IGNITION SYSTEM

With
the ignition coil
primary
wire
connected, con-
nect
the
peak voltage
adaptor
or
pea
k voltage
tester probes
to
the
ignition
coil
primary
wi
re
terminal and ground.
CONNEcnON:

Turn the ignition switch ON and
engine
stop
switch
to "RUN",
Shift the transmission into neutral.
Crank
the engine
with
the kickstarter and read
ignition coil primary peak voltage.

the peak voltage is abnormal, foll
ow
the checks
described in the troubleshooting chart (page
14-21.

NOTE:
Check cylinder compression
and
check that the
spark
plug
is installed correctly.
Remove the seat assembly (page 2-2),
Disconnect the
4P
connector
from
the
leM.
Connect the peak voltage adaptor or peak voltage
tester probes
to
the connect
or
terminals
of the
wire
harness side.
TOOLS:
Peak voltage
tester
(U.S.A. only)
or
Peak \/oltage adaptor 07HGJ - 0020100
(not available in U.S.A.)
with
commercially availa·
ble
digital
multlmeter
(impedance 10 M Q /DCV
minimum)
CONNECTION:

Shift the transmission into neutral.
Crank the engine
with
the
kickstarter and
re
ad
the
peak voltage.
