Ignition
System
If
the resistance is
»
(open
wire); disconnect
the spark plug
cap
and
measure the
secondary coil resistance
as
shown.
Standard;
2.8-3.4
kfl
[20°C/S8°F)
Pulse
Generator
Inspection
NOTE
It is
not
necessary remove
the pulse generator
from the
engine.
Remove the fuel tank (page
2-4).
Disconnect
the pulse
generator
2P
connector.
Measure the
resistance between the
Blue/Yellow
and
Green/White terminals.
Standard: 50-T70 0
(20
D
C/68
D
F)
Exciter Coil
Inspection
NOTE
It is
not necessary
remove the exciter coil
from
the
engine.
Remove
the fuel tank (page
2-4).
Disconnect
the exciter coil
connector.
Measure
the
resistance
between- the
Black/Red and
body,
ground
Standard: 50-180
ft (2.0°C/68°F)
Ignition
Timing
Warm up the
engine.
Stop the engine
and connect a
timing light
to the No. 1 cylinder
spark plug wire.
NOTE.
r
Read the instructions
for
timing
light for
operating.
Remove
the
tirmng hole
cap on
the left crankcase cover.
