STARTING THE ENGINE
Always follow the proper starting procedure
described below.
This motorcycle can be started with the
transmission in gear by disengaging the
clutch before operating the starter.
Your motorcycle’s exhaust contains
poisonous carbon monoxide gas. High
levels of carbon monoxide can collect
rapidly in enclosed areas such as a garage.
Do not run the engine with the garage door
closed. Even with the door open, run the
engine only long enough to move your
motorcycle out of the garage.
Do not use the electric starter for more than
5 seconds at a time. Release the start button
for approximately 10 seconds before
pressing it again.
Preparation
Before starting, insert the key and turn the
ignition switch to (ON), and confirm the
following:
• The transmission is in neutral.
• The engine stop switch is at (RUN).
• The PGM-FI malfunction indicator lamp
(MIL) is off.
