Shifting Gears
Basic Operation & Riding
Improper shifting may damage the engine,
transmission, and drive train.
To start riding, after the engine has been
warmed and the side stand raised:
Close the throttle and pull the front brake
lever in.
Your motorcycle has three forward gears.
Raise the shift lever from neutral up to first
gear.
Release the front brake. Gradually open the
throttle.
When you attain a moderate speed, close the
throttle and raise the shift lever. After
shifting, apply the throttle.
To continue shifting up to each higher gear,
repeat step .
To shift down to a lower gear, close the
throttle and depress the shift lever. After
shifting, apply the throttle.
Remember to close the throttle before
shifting.
