Storing Your Motorcycle
If you store your motorcycle outdoors, you
should consider using a full-body motorcycle
cover.
If you won't be riding for an extended period,
follow these guidelines:
● Wash your motorcycle and wax all painted
surfaces (except matte painted surfaces).
Coat chrome pieces with rust-inhibiting oil.
● Lubricate the drive chain. 2 P. 69
● Place your motorcycle on a maintenance
stand and position a block so that both tires
are off the ground.

After rain, remove the body cover and allow
the motorcycle to dry.
●
Remove the battery (2 P. 76) to prevent
discharge. Charge the battery in a shaded,
well-ventilated area.
u If you leave the battery in place,
disconnect the negative - terminal to
prevent discharge.
After removing your motorcycle from storage,
inspect all maintenance items required by the
Maintenance Schedule.
