Overview

The Honda Remote Control Car Starter System is a sophisticated accessory designed to provide convenience, protection, and reliable performance for your vehicle. This system allows you to remotely start and stop your engine, lock and unlock doors, and activate the horn in emergencies.

Function Description

The system comprises a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter, which also functions as a keyless entry-integrated key, sends signals to the receiver to control various car functions.

Engine Start/Stop:

To start the engine remotely, first ensure the gearshift lever is in "P" (Parking), the brake pedal is released, the engine hood and all doors are securely closed, the driver's side door is locked, the trunk lid or tailgate (if applicable) is closed, the security and panic warning systems are not activated, and the keyless entry-integrated key or car key is removed from the ignition switch. The battery power must also be sufficient. Once these conditions are met, press the command button (for 1 second or less) on the transmitter, then press the lock/start button within 2 seconds. The transmitter will emit a short whistle ("Pi, Pi") and then "Pirrr" after the engine starts, with an icon displayed on the screen. The engine will automatically stop after approximately 10 minutes, or if any of the starting conditions are no longer met (e.g., doors unlocked, brake pedal depressed, engine speed rises to 4,000 rpm or more, malfunction indicator lamp is ON, low oil pressure indicator is ON, or the key is inserted into the ignition switch). To stop the engine remotely, press the command button (for 1 second or less), then the unlock/stop button within 2 seconds. The transmitter will emit a whistle ("Pi") and display an icon indicating the engine has stopped.

Keyless Entry Functionality:

The transmitter also acts as a keyless entry-integrated key. When used alone, pressing the lock button once locks the doors and flashes the parking lights once. The transmitter emits a long buzzer sound, then two short buzzer sounds, and an icon appears on the display. Pressing the lock button a second time within 5 seconds will cause the horn to beep once and the parking lights to flash once. Pressing the unlock button once unlocks only the driver's side door and flashes the parking lights twice. Pressing it again within 30 seconds unlocks all doors and flashes the parking lights twice. The interior light illuminates for 30 seconds if the switch is in the center position. The transmitter emits a long buzzer sound, then two short buzzer sounds, and an icon appears on the display. If no door is opened and the ignition switch is not turned ON, the system will relock the doors after 30 seconds. The panic warning system can be activated by pressing and holding the PANIC button for more than 1 second. The horn will sound for 30 seconds, and parking lights and headlights will flash. To deactivate, press "LOCK," "UNLOCK," "PANIC," or the command button for 1.5 seconds or longer, or turn the ignition key to the "ON" (II) position. For cars with a keyless entry system for the trunk, the trunk lid can be unlocked by pressing the command button for 1.5 seconds or longer.

Air Conditioner-Interlocking Function (Automatic Climate Control Models Only):

This function automatically activates the air conditioner (defroster) and heating wire (rear defogger/heated door mirror) when the engine starts, provided the ambient temperature is 5°C (41°F) or below. To activate this function, ensure the car's air conditioner is OFF. Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK (0)" to "ON (II)" while simultaneously pressing the REAR DEFOGGER switch and the RECIRCULATION switch for approximately 10 seconds. The "Set temperature and A/C letter" on the air conditioner panel will blink and then stay ON, indicating activation. To deactivate, turn the ignition switch from "LOCK (0)" to "ON (II)" while simultaneously pressing the DEFROSTER switch and the RECIRCULATION switch for approximately 10 seconds. The "Set temperature and CL letter" will blink and then stay ON, indicating deactivation. To check the current setting, turn the ignition switch from "LOCK (0)" to "ON (II)" while simultaneously pressing the REAR DEFOGGER switch and the RECIRCULATION switch for 5 seconds. The current setting will be shown on the air conditioner panel.

Important Usage Features

  • Remote Control Range: The standard range is approximately 150 meters (492 ft) as the crow flies, but this can vary depending on environmental factors like buildings, other automobiles, and high-power transmitters. A weak battery can also reduce the range.
  • Car Condition Check: After starting the engine, pressing the command button (for 1 second or less) and then again within 2 seconds will display the car's condition on the transmitter's liquid crystal display, showing information like idling status, remaining idling time, door lock status, and security system activation.
  • Wiper Switch and Auto Light Control: Before leaving the car, always turn off the wiper switch to prevent excessive load on the wiper motor if blades are frozen. If your car has an auto light control system, turn it OFF to prevent headlights from coming on when the remote starter is used at night or in dark places.
  • Comfort Setting: For comfort upon entering the car, set the air conditioner or heater switch to an adequate temperature before exiting. Automatic climate control systems can operate the air conditioner and heating wire automatically based on ambient temperature.

Maintenance Features

Transmitter Battery Replacement:

The transmitter uses two CR2032 lithium batteries, which typically last about one year. When the battery is low, a "WEAK BATTERY INDICATOR" icon may appear on the display. To replace the batteries:

  1. Release the lock of the battery cover.
  2. Remove the battery cover.
  3. Remove the old batteries.
  4. Install two new CR2032 lithium batteries with the positive (+) mark facing the battery cover.
  5. Install the battery cover and lock it. After replacement, push the lock button on the transmitter; a buzzer sound confirms proper installation.

Battery Precautions:

  • Store batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Do not charge, short-circuit, disassemble, deform, heat, or throw batteries into fire, as they contain flammable materials that can ignite, heat, or explode.
  • Insulate batteries with tape before disposing or storing for prolonged periods to prevent short circuits with other metals or batteries.
  • Wipe batteries with a clean, dry cloth before installation to ensure good contact. Avoid holding batteries with metallic tools like tweezers.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues like the engine not starting or stopping, short remote control range, and the air conditioner-interlocking function not activating. It advises checking conditions such as gearshift lever position, key removal, door closure, engine hood closure, trunk lid/tailgate closure, transmitter battery status, and operating distance. For issues beyond basic troubleshooting, consult an authorized Honda dealer.
