This document is the Owner's Manual for a Honda Remote Control Car Starter System, identified by the model number RS-06A. It provides comprehensive information on the system's functions, operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.
Function Description:
The Honda Remote Control Car Starter System allows users to remotely start and stop their vehicle's engine from outside the car. It also integrates keyless entry functionalities, enabling remote locking and unlocking of doors and the trunk lid (depending on the model). The system is designed for convenience, allowing the car to warm up or cool down before the driver enters. It operates without requiring a special license under Radio Wave Law.
The system consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter sends signals to the receiver via an antenna, which then controls the engine's start/stop functions based on the car's condition. The transmitter also features a liquid crystal display (LCD) that shows the car's status, including engine running/off indication, remaining idling time, door lock/unlock status, security alarm trigger, and battery status.

Usage Features:
Starting the Engine:
- Push the command button (for 1 second or less) on the transmitter.
- Within 2 seconds, push the lock/start button.
- The transmitter emits a short whistle ("Pi, Pi") and then "Pirrr" once the engine starts, displaying the engine running icon.
- The engine will not start if conditions like gearshift not in "P", brake depressed, hood/doors/trunk open, security system activated, or key in ignition are not met.
- The engine automatically stops after approximately 10 minutes, or if any of the starting conditions are violated (e.g., door unlocked, brake depressed, key inserted).
Stopping the Engine:
- Push the command button (for 1 second or less) on the transmitter.
- Within 2 seconds, push the unlock/stop button.
- The transmitter emits a whistle ("Pi") and displays the engine-off icon.
- The engine cannot be stopped remotely if it was started using the car key.
Checking Car Condition:
After starting the engine, push the command button (for 1 second or less) twice within 2 seconds. The transmitter's display will show the car's current condition, including:
- Engine idling status and remaining idling time.
- Door lock/unlock status.
- Security system activation status.
Keyless Entry-Integrated Key Function:
- Locking: Press the lock button. The doors will lock, parking lights flash once, and the transmitter emits a long buzzer sound followed by two short buzzers. Pressing again within 5 seconds will beep the horn once and flash parking lights.
- Unlocking: Press the unlock button. Only the driver's door unlocks, parking lights flash twice. Pressing again within 30 seconds unlocks all doors, and parking lights flash twice. The interior light illuminates for 30 seconds.
- Panic Mode: Press and hold the PANIC button for more than 1 second. The horn sounds for 30 seconds, and parking/headlights flash. Deactivate by pressing LOCK, UNLOCK, PANIC, or the command button for 1.5 seconds, or turning the ignition key to "ON" (II).
- Trunk Unlock: For cars with keyless entry, press the command button for 1.5 seconds or longer to unlock the trunk lid.
Air Conditioner-Interlocking Function (Automatic Climate Control Only):
This function automatically activates the air conditioner (defroster) and heating wire (rear defogger/heated door mirror) when the engine starts, provided the ambient temperature is 5°C (41°F) or below.
- Setting ON: With the ignition switch in "0", press REAR DEFOGGER and RECIRCULATION switches simultaneously, then turn the ignition to "II" and hold for approx. 10 seconds. The A/C panel will blink and then stay ON.
- Setting OFF: With the ignition switch in "0", press DEFROSTER and RECIRCULATION switches simultaneously, then turn the ignition to "II" and hold for approx. 10 seconds. The A/C panel will blink and then stay OFF.
- Checking Setting: With the ignition switch in "0", press REAR DEFOGGER and RECIRCULATION switches simultaneously, then turn the ignition to "II" and hold for 5 seconds. The A/C panel will show the current setting.
Maintenance Features:
Transmitter Battery Replacement:
- Release the lock and remove the battery cover.
- Remove the old batteries (CR2032 x 2).
- Install two new CR2032 lithium batteries with the positive (+) mark facing the battery cover.
- Install the battery cover and lock it.
- Push the lock button to confirm the buzzer sounds, indicating proper installation.
- Warning: Improper battery handling (charging, short-circuiting, disassembling, deforming, heating, throwing in fire) can cause ignition, heat, or explosion. Insulate batteries with tape before disposal or storage.
- Advice: Store batteries out of reach of children. Seek immediate medical attention if swallowed.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues, such as the engine not starting or the remote control range being short.
- Engine not starting: Check gearshift position ("P"), key not in ignition, all doors closed, engine hood closed, trunk/tailgate closed, transmitter batteries not discharged, and operating within remote control range. Ensure the lock/start button is pushed within 2 seconds of the command button.
- Remote control range short: Check if the antenna element of the transmitter is loose and if the transmitter batteries are discharged.
- Engine not stopping: Ensure the engine was started with the transmitter (not the car key) and check transmitter battery status and operating range.
- Air conditioner-interlocking function not activated: Verify ambient temperature is 5°C (41°F) or below and confirm the function has been properly set.
Safety Messages:
The manual emphasizes safety with DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION labels.
- DANGER: Operating the starter in an enclosed area can cause fatal carbon monoxide build-up.
- WARNING: Do not start the engine with the body cover removed or near flammable materials. Store batteries out of reach of children.
- CAUTION: Do not operate transmitter switches unnecessarily due to long-range electric waves. Ensure no people, pets, or obstacles are near the car when starting. Avoid allowing pets or small animals into the engine compartment. Do not drop or strike the transmitter. Clean with a soft cloth and neutral detergent, avoid benzine/thinner. Do not operate or store in direct sunlight, damp, or extremely hot/cold places.
- The immobilizer system operates automatically after the engine stops.
- The security system is designed not to trigger errors when the remote starter is used.
- Additional remote control transmitters can be purchased from a Honda dealer and require reprogramming of the ID code in the main unit. Up to two additional transmitters can be accommodated.
