Chronotherm IV

Congratulations…

You are the owner of the Chronotherm IV, type T 8602A, the most advanced digital

programmable thermostat that Honeywell has ever produced.

With the Chronotherm IV thermostat you can realise almost any wishes in the field of

home-climate control you can wish for. For a maximum of six periods per day you can set

the temperature, and finetune the desired temperature to half a degree.

The Chronotherm IV is equipped with Adaptive Intelligent Recovery, which makes sure

that the desired temperature is being reached on the time you requested. Using the

thermostat is most simple.

Honeywell has experience in developing thermostats for more than a hundred years. The

combination of this experience with state-of-the-art technology ensures your top level in

home comfort. With the aid of this manual you’ll learn step by step to program your

thermostat, and additional examples show you how you can use your thermostat most

efficiently.

1. Time, day of the week and room temperature are continuously shown on the display.

The flame-symbol indicates when the heater is being activated.

2. Pressing one of these buttons the set temperature is being changed for only the

duration of the present period.

3. Shows the temperature which is set at the present moment, the temperature outside

and the and the set temperature of the tele-function (if these additions have been

installed).

Why is my Honeywell Chronotherm IV heating not working?

  If your Honeywell Thermostat's heating isn't turning on, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the thermostat is receiving power by checking for 24 Vac between the R and C terminals. If there's no power, inspect the circuit breaker (reset if tripped), the system fuse (replace if blown), and the HVAC equipment's power switch (set to 'On'). Also, verify the wiring between the thermostat and HVAC equipment, fixing any breaks or loose connections. If power is present, confirm that the system selection is set to 'Heat' and that the heating setpoint is higher than the room temperature. Lastly, the thermostat might be in a minimum off time mode; wait up to five minutes to see if the system responds.

  If your Honeywell Thermostat's cooling isn't activating, begin by checking the power supply. Ensure there's 24 Vac between the R and C terminals. If power is absent, check the circuit breaker (reset if tripped), replace any blown fuses, and ensure the HVAC equipment's power switch is in the 'On' position. Inspect and repair any faulty wiring between the thermostat and the HVAC equipment. If power is available, make sure the system selection is set to 'Cool' and that the cooling setpoint is below the current room temperature. Also, the thermostat might be in a minimum off time mode; wait up to five minutes. You can also reconfigure minimum off time in Installer Setup number 33 if required.

  If you're unable to adjust the temperature settings on your Honeywell Thermostat, it might be due to temperature limits or configured setpoint stops. Check that your desired heating temperature is within 40 to 90°F (4.5 to 32°C) and your cooling temperature is within 48 to 99°F (7 to 37°C). Also, check Installer Setup numbers 34 and 35 to reconfigure the setpoint stops if needed.

  If the outdoor temperature isn't displayed on your Honeywell Thermostat, first check if the option is activated. Go to Installer Setup number 24 and set it to 1. Note that your thermostat must have OT terminals and a C7089B1000 sensor installed for this feature to work.
