Overview

This document is a user manual for a Hoover Optima washing machine, providing instructions for its use, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Hoover Optima washing machine is designed for domestic use, offering a range of wash programs and features to cater to various fabric types and soiling levels. It includes standard wash cycles, special programs for delicate fabrics like wool and silk, and quick wash options. The machine incorporates a "Sensor System" for "Sensitive Care" programs, which adjusts water quantity and drum rotation for thorough cleaning and rinsing, particularly beneficial for delicate skin and fabrics. It also features an "Auto half load" system that self-adjusts water levels based on the laundry load, optimizing water and electricity consumption.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Load Capacity: Available in 6 kg and 8 kg models (refer to the rating plate for the specific model).
  • Water Pressure: 0.05 ÷ 0.8 MPa.
  • Dimensions:
    • Width: 60 cm
    • Depth: 40 cm (for 6 kg model), 54 cm (for 8 kg model)
    • Height: 85 cm
  • Electrical Connections: Requires a 13 Amp socket. The ready-fitted plug is equipped with a 13 amp fuse (BS 1362 ASTA approved).
  • Water Connection: Uses cold water only, connected via a 3/4" B.S.P threaded inlet hose. Cold fill is an energy-efficient system, heating only the required water for washing.
  • Discharge Hose: Terminal end must be between 50 cm and 85 cm from the ground.
  • Motor: Features a brush motor for better performance, which may result in a different noise during spinning.
  • Compliance: Complies with European Directives 73/23/EEC, 89/336/EEC, 2006/95/EC, and 2004/108/EC.

Usage Features

Controls: The washing machine features a control panel with:

  • Door Handle (A): For opening the door.
  • "Door Security" Indicator Light (B): Illuminates when the door is closed and the machine is ON. Flashes momentarily when "Start/Pause" is pressed with the door closed, then illuminates. Flashes continuously if the door is not closed. A safety device prevents immediate opening after a cycle; wait 2 minutes for the light to go out.
  • "Start/Pause" Button (C): Initiates the selected cycle. Can pause a program by holding for 4 seconds (wash stage indicator and option buttons will flash). Press again to restart.
  • "Cold Wash" Button (D): Transforms any program into a cold wash.
  • "Sensitive Care" Button (E): Activates a special wash cycle in Cotton and Mixed Fabrics programs, increasing water quantity and adjusting drum rotation for thorough rinsing, ideal for delicate skin and fabrics.
  • "Delay Start" Button (F): Delays the program start by 3, 6, or 9 hours.
  • "Spin Speed" Button (G): Adjusts or cancels the spin speed.
  • Spin Speed Indicator Light (H): Shows the maximum possible spin speed for the selected program and changes when adjusted.
  • "Wash Stage" Indicator Lights (L): Indicate the current wash stage (main wash, rinse, spin).
  • Buttons Indicator Lights (M): Light up when relevant buttons are pressed. Flash then go off if an incompatible option is selected.
  • Programme Selector (N): Rotates in both directions to select programs. Must be turned to "OFF" to switch off the machine or before selecting a new program.
  • Detergent Drawer (P): Divided into three compartments:
    • "1": Prewash detergent.
    • "3": Special additives (fabric softeners, fragrances, starch, brighteners).
    • "2": Main wash detergent.

Washing Process:

  1. Open the door using handle "A".
  2. Load laundry and close the door.
  3. Add detergent to the appropriate compartments (1 for prewash, 2 for main wash, 3 for additives). For liquid products, use compartment "3" or an in-drum dispenser.
  4. Select a program using the Programme Selector (N). Wait for the "SPIN" indicator light to go on.
  5. Press additional function buttons (if required).
  6. Press "Start/Pause" (C). The machine will start after a few seconds.
  7. After washing: All wash stage indicator lights illuminate. Wait 2 minutes for the door lock to release and the "Door Security" light to go out. Turn the Programme Selector to "OFF", open the door, and remove laundry.
