Fingerprint reader module (includes cable and double-sided adhesive) 746668-001
Before removing the fingerprint reader module, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

Remove the Battery (see
Battery on page 40), and then remove the following components:
a. Service cover (see
Service cover on page 41)
b. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 42)
c. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 50)
d. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 52)
e. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 55)
Remove the fingerprint reader module:
1. Turn the top cover upside down with the front toward you.
2. Release the ground tape (1) that secures the fingerprint reader module to the top cover.
3. Detach the fingerprint reader module cable (2) from the top cover. (The fingerprint reader module
cable is attached to the top cover with double-sided adhesive.)
