Reorient the HP Jetdirect print server's location in relation to the Access Point or wireless PC. This
might improve reception and performance.

Reduce or remove sources of interference. Metallic objects can absorb or attenuate radio signals,
and devices such as microwave ovens and cordless phones operate using similar radio
frequencies.

Reduce the distance between the printer and the Access Point or wireless PC. This can be
accomplished by:

moving the print server
◦
moving the Access Point or wireless PC
◦
adding an additional Access Point (Infrastructure mode only)

Elevate the Access Point’s antenna. In most office environments, elevating the Access Point’s
antenna will improve the range and performance of all wireless devices.
Firmware download failure
The HP Jetdirect ew2500 print server provides limited firmware upgrade capabilities. As with other
HP Jetdirect print servers, firmware upgrades may be downloaded as available using tools such as HP
Download Manager (Windows), HP Web Jetadmin, HP embedded Web server, or FTP (File Transfer
Protocol).
If the firmware download fails to complete, you should restart the download without cycling power to the
print server.
If power is lost during the download and the print server must be restarted, your next steps depend on
whether the print server is configured for server-based authentication.
