convenient and efficient printer administration. In addition, the HP Color LaserJet 5550 series

Note The capabilities described in this section are only available with an HP Jetdirect EIO print
server. The HP Jetdirect 620n Fast Ethernet internal print server comes standard with HP
Color LaserJet 5550n, 5550dn, 5550dtn, and 5550hdn printers.
Robust networking
HP Jetdirect internal print servers are compatible with most major network operating systems and
protocols. Support for Internet protocols such as TCP/IP enhances the printer’s versatility when
administering over company intranets. HP Jetdirect print servers provide the simplest, most reliable
way to share printing devices.
• The HP Jetdirect 620n Fast Ethernet internal print server supports 802.1X authentication to
protect access to your network. Enhanced network configuration and management features
include password-protected configuration, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Transport Layer Security
(TLS), and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Version 3 to keep your network safe.
With throughput speeds of up to 6 MB per second you can expect maximum network
performance.
• The HP Jetdirect 620n Fast Ethernet internal print server supports Microsoft® Windows 98, Me,
NT 4.0, 2000, XP, XP 64-Bit, Server 2003; Novell NetWare 3.2, 4.2, 5.x, 6.x; Apple Mac
OS 8.6 and later; Red Hat Linux 6.x and later; SuSE Linux 6.x and later; HP-UX 10.20, 11.x;
Solaris 2.5x, 2.6, 7, 8 (SPARC systems only); IBM AIX 3.2.5 and later; and MPE-iX.
• Enable wireless 802.11b networking with the optional HP Jetdirect 680n EIO internal print
server. Wireless solutions provide the ultimate in office flexibility without costly and
time-consuming wiring constraints.
Manage from anywhere
With HP Web Jetadmin and the HP Embedded Web Server, busy MIS/IT managers can configure,
monitor, and troubleshoot via the Internet using Netscape or Microsoft Web browsers. HP Web
Jetadmin lets you use one management utility for all networked peripherals, simplifying
management and improving uptime. HP Web Jetadmin enables simple remote installation,
configuration, diagnostics, and proactive management of multiple devices.
