Select a sturdy, well-ventilated, dust-free area away from direct sunlight for printer placement.
Remove all tape and packing material from the outside of the printer.
Connect the network cable, but defer USB connection until software installation prompts.
Connect the phone cord for fax, using an appropriate adapter if needed for the telephone jack.
Connect the power cable to the printer and a grounded AC outlet, then power on the printer.
Configure language, date/time format, and time zone on the control panel.
Caution: Avoid extending more than one paper tray at a time during paper loading.
Install language overlays onto the keyboard by carefully peeling and adhering labels to the correct keys.
Connect the USB cable only when prompted by the software installation process.
Obtain driver software from the web using HP Easy Start or the support website.
Install software from the provided printer CD, following onscreen instructions.

Enable wireless printing by configuring Wi-Fi Direct through the control panel's Administration menu.
