3 BIOS Overview
Power Saving and Ergonometry
4 From the Start menu, select Run..., then in the window that appears
type
A:\HWCMOS r settings.txt and click on OK. This creates a
file on the floppy called
settings.txt containing the BIOS
configuration.
5 Insert the floppy in another VEi 8. From the
Start menu, select Run...,
then in the window that appears type
A:\HWCMOS w settings.txt
and click on OK.
6 Reboot the PC for the new settings to be used.
Power Saving and Ergonometry
Soft Power Down
When the user requests the operating system to shut down, the
environment is cleared, and the computer is powered off. Soft Power
Down is available with the Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows 98
operating systems.
The hardware to do this is contained within the PIIX4E chip. This chip
is described in detail in the Technical Reference Manual - Vectra
Technology.
