• A T-10 Torx screwdriver.
• A backup of your settings and data that you have created using the HPE OneView backup utility. If you use HPE Synergy
Image Streamer, you also should have a backup using Image Streamer.
• A USB flash drive that contains the HPE OneView firmware version. When the drive is replaced, a reimage is required. For
more information, see Preparing a USB flash drive for reimaging an HPE Synergy appliance.
Procedure
1. Remove the appliance module from the frame.
2. Remove the drive as indicated.
3.
Replace the drive by reversing the steps shown in the previous illustration.
4.
Slide the appliance module into the bay until it clicks into place.
For an Image Streamer, see "Guidelines for inserting an Image Streamer."
5.
Reimage the appliance module.
Reimaging the appliance module with the preloaded USB drive
Reimaging the appliance module is required if you replace the disk or, in a clustered configuration, if the firmware on the
appliance module that you are reinserting does not match the firmware of the appliance module currently in operation.
CAUTION: This operation destroys data on the reimaged appliance module.
(HPE Synergy Composer) If you intend to restore the Composer settings from a backup file after the appliance module is
reimaged, and that backup file contains the management configuration for the frames it managed, you do not need to reset the
managed frames to factory settings. See "Resetting the appliance module to original factory settings." Otherwise, you must
reset all the frame components managed by that appliance module to their factory settings.
