About the appliance maintenance console
The appliance maintenance console provides a limited set of administrative commands for an appliance.
The appliance maintenance console is an important tool for troubleshooting appliance issues when the HPE OneView UI or
Image Streamer is not available.
The appliance maintenance console is always available from the front panel console or from an SSH session if maintenance IPs
are configured.
In the upper left of most appliance maintenance console screens, the local appliance is identified by its location (enclosure
identifier and appliance bay number) or its host name.

The appliance maintenance console displays an icon and a message about the state of the appliance, which can indicate that
one of the following actions is occurring:
• Normal operation
• Appliance is oline
• Appliance is being updated
• Appliance is synchronizing with the other appliance in the cluster
• Appliance is starting up, shutting down, restarting, or temporarily unavailable
