      If your HSU Subwoofer goes into standby mode while playing content, it might be due to the source not providing a strong enough signal. Try increasing the source signal, and on a Dolby Digital receiver, raise the SUBWOOFER level in the SPEAKER SET-UP menu, then lower the volume knob on the subwoofer to compensate. Alternatively, you can set the subwoofer's ON/AUTO/OFF switch to the ON position, which won't increase power usage or affect reliability. Another possibility is that the AC power isn't reaching the amplifier, so ensure the power cord is securely plugged in at both ends and that the power outlet is working.

There may be an amplifier problem: disconnect all interconnects from the amplifier; if the hum persists, contact technical support. The speaker wires or interconnects might be the cause, potentially having a poor or broken ground, or being poorly shielded; try different cables and move them away from AC cables or power transformers. A light dimmer or similar device on the same AC circuit could also be the source; use an AC line filter or plug the unit into a different circuit. Finally, the problem might stem from other equipment; disconnect and reconnect components one by one to identify the source of the hum.

      If you have little to no sound from one main speaker when using your HSU Subwoofer, and you've used speaker level connections, the polarity of the wires might be mixed up, shorting one channel of the main amplifier. Correct the polarity of the speaker wires by matching the +/- from the receiver/amplifier to the +/- of the subwoofer’s speaker level input. Alternatively, if you've used speaker level connections and one or both of your main amplifier’s ‘ - ’ are not true ground, connect only to the channel that has a true ground ‘ - ’. If neither channel has a true ground ‘ - ’, contact technical support.

      If there is no output from your HSU Subwoofer and the LED is red, it could be that the subwoofer isn't receiving a signal. Recheck the connections between the source and the subwoofer. If the connections are correct, the subwoofer amplifier might be faulty. To test this, set the subwoofer level to minimum and use a different RCA cable to connect the sub to a DVD player's analog output or an MP3 player. Play music and slowly increase the volume on the sub. If it plays, the issue lies in the original subwoofer cable, the receiver settings, or an incorrect receiver jack. If there's still no noise, contact technical support.

      If your HSU Subwoofer thumps when the system is turned on and off, the noise may be generated by upstream equipment. To mitigate this, when shutting down your equipment, turn off the subwoofer first, and when powering up, turn on the subwoofer last.

      If there is no output from your HSU Subwoofer and the LED is green, the connection between the subwoofer amplifier and woofer may be faulty. If the wire is loose, tighten the connector and reconnect it. Alternatively, the driver or amplifier might be faulty. To check, take the driver out of the cabinet and connect it to your main amplifier. If it plays fine, the amp is bad. If it does not play, then the woofer is bad. Contact technical support to send the non-working part back for service.

      If the bass output from your HSU Subwoofer is low, the level on the subwoofer or the receiver’s subwoofer output might be too low. Increase the volume of the subwoofer and the subwoofer level or LFE level on the receiver or other source. It is best to set the level of the subwoofer relative to the other speakers using a test disk and a Radio Shack SPL meter, or built-in tones on your pre-amp/pro- cessor.
