Maintenance by unqualied person may cause damage.
Feed air conditioner with R32 refrigerant, and maintain the air conditioner in strictly
accordance with manufacturer’s requirements. The chapter is mainly focused on special
maintenance requirements for appliance with R32 refrigerant. Ask the maintainer to read
the after-sales technical service handbook for detailed information.
1. Special training additional to usual refrigerating equipment repair procedures is
required when equipment with ammable refrigerants is affected. In many countries, this
training is carried out by ocial organisations that are accredited to teach the relevant
national competency standards that may be set in legislation. The achieved competence
should be documented by a certicate.
2. The maintenance and repair of the air conditioner must be conducted according to
the method recommended by the manufacturer. lf other professionals are needed to
help maintain and repair the equipment, it should be conducted under the supervision of
individuals who have the qualication to repair AC equipped with ammable refrigerant.
Safety inspection must be taken before maintaining equipment with R32 refrigerant
to make sure the risk of re is minimized. Check whether the place is well ventilated,
whether anti-static and re protection equipment is correct.
While maintaining the refrigeration system, take the following precautions before acting.
1. General work area:
AII maintenance staff and others working in the area shall be instructed on the nature of
work being carried out. The area around the workspace shall be bounded. Ensure that the
conditions within the area have been made safe by control of ammable material.
2. Checking for presence of refrigerant:
The area shall be checked with an appropriate gas detector prior to and during work, to
ensure the technician is aware of potentially toxic or explosive atmospheres. Ensure that
the leak detection equipment being used is suitable for use with all applicable refrigerants,
i.e.non-sparking, adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.
