The Hunter PGP, PGS, and PGH Gear-Driven Sprinklers are designed for irrigation, offering adjustable arc and radius settings to suit various landscape needs. These sprinklers are installed at finished grade, ensuring a flush appearance with the surrounding terrain.
The primary function of these sprinklers is to distribute water over a specified area. They are gear-driven, which means they use an internal gearing mechanism to rotate the nozzle turret, providing a consistent and reliable spray pattern. The pop-up design ensures that the sprinkler head retracts into the ground when not in use, protecting it from damage and maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the landscape.
The sprinkler should be installed at finished grade, as indicated by the provided illustration. This ensures proper operation and integration with the landscape.
The sprinklers come preset to approximately 180 degrees. Adjustments can be made with the water on or off, though initial adjustments are recommended before installation.
To adjust the radius or distance of throw, insert the steel hex end of the Hunter wrench into the radius adjustment screw. Turning the screw clockwise (into the stream of water) will decrease the radius, while turning it counterclockwise will increase the radius. The radius can be reduced by up to 25%.
If certain areas are consistently too wet or too dry, the nozzle in the sprinkler can be changed to adjust the precipitation rate. For dry areas, a larger nozzle should be installed, and for wet areas, a smaller nozzle.
Proper alignment of the right side of the arc is crucial to avoid wet walkways or dry turf areas. The right side arc can be easily realigned using a couple of methods:
The design of these sprinklers allows for adjustments without disassembling the sprinkler, simplifying maintenance tasks. Regular checks of the arc and radius settings can help maintain optimal irrigation performance. If the sprinkler is not performing as expected, reviewing the adjustment procedures and nozzle selection can help troubleshoot common issues.
