This document describes the Hygger Pinpoint Titanium Heater with IC Temp Controller, models HG-802/HG-8021 and HG-902/HG-9021, designed for aquarium use.
Function Description
The Hygger Pinpoint Titanium Heater is an electronic temperature control system for aquariums, consisting of a heating rod and an IC electronic temperature controller with a thermal detector. Its primary function is to maintain a stable and desired water temperature within an aquarium. The device allows users to set a specific temperature, and the heater will automatically turn on or off to achieve and maintain that temperature. The controller features a digital display that shows both the current water temperature and the set temperature, providing real-time feedback to the user. The heating rod is made of titanium, which is resistant to corrosion and suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums. The system is designed to be fully submersible, with the heating rod placed horizontally in the tank and the controller positioned outside the tank for easy access and adjustment. The integrated IC electronic automatic temperature controller ensures precise temperature management, preventing overheating or underheating of the aquarium water.

Maximum Depth the Heating Rod Can Be Placed:
The controller features an IC electronic automatic temperature controller, ensuring precise temperature management. The titanium heater is resistant to saltwater, making it suitable for marine fish tanks. The separated, sensitive, accurate detector provides precise temperature readings. The digital LED display shows both the current and set temperatures, and the unit supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature scales.
Usage Features
The Hygger Pinpoint Titanium Heater is designed for ease of use and precise temperature control.
Installation:
- Placement: The heating rod should be placed horizontally in the aquarium, fully submerged in water. It is crucial to ensure the heating rod is always completely covered by water to prevent damage. The controller unit is not submersible and should be placed outside the tank.
- Connecting Components: Connect the heating rod power adapter to the controller's heating rod power adapter input. Then, connect the thermal detector to the controller's thermal detector input. Finally, plug the power adapter (which is different from the heating rod power adapter) into a power outlet.
- Power On: Once plugged in, the controller will display the current water temperature and the set temperature.
Temperature Setting:
- Adjusting Temperature: Press the "set" key on the controller. The set temperature display will begin to flash.
- Increasing/Decreasing Temperature: Press the "up" or "down" keys to adjust the desired temperature. Each press changes the temperature by 1°F or 1°C.
- Confirming Setting: After setting the desired temperature, wait about one second without pressing any keys. The display will stop flashing, and the new set temperature will be saved.
- Heating Indicator: A heating indicator light on the controller will illuminate when the heater is actively working. If the current water temperature is below the set temperature, the heater will turn on, and the indicator will light up. Once the water reaches the set temperature, the heater will turn off, and the indicator will extinguish.
Temperature Unit Selection:
- Press the "up" key to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) display modes.
Safety Features:
- Built-in Temp Detector: The titanium heater has a built-in temperature detector, which must be used with the IC electronic controller. It is not designed for standalone use.
- Automatic Shut-off: The heater will automatically turn off once the set temperature is reached, preventing overheating.
- Error Detection: The controller can detect errors in temperature readings or heater malfunctions. If the display shows an error code, users should unplug the device, check connections, and contact customer service if the issue persists.
- Water Level Safety: It is critical to ensure the heating rod is always fully submerged. If the water level drops and exposes the heater, it should be unplugged immediately and allowed to cool before being re-submerged.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the Hygger Pinpoint Titanium Heater.
Regular Checks:
- Unboxing Inspection: Upon receiving the package, check all items for good condition and ensure nothing is missing.
- Manual Review: Read the user manual carefully before using and follow the instructions strictly.
- Submersion: Always ensure the heating rod is fully submerged in water. Never operate the heater when it's not fully immersed, as this can cause damage or safety hazards.
- Placement: Place the heating rod horizontally in the aquarium. Avoid placing it in sand or gravel, as this can impede heat dissipation and cause overheating.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the heating rod to prevent algae or mineral buildup, which can affect its efficiency. Before cleaning, always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely.
- Cord Inspection: Periodically check the power cord and heater rod for any signs of damage, fraying, or wear. Do not use if damaged.
Troubleshooting and FAQs:
- Temperature Discrepancy: If the display temperature differs from another thermometer, it's often due to different sensor placements or calibration. Ensure the heater's thermal detector is placed in an area with good water circulation.
- Slow Heating: If the tank takes a long time to heat up, ensure the heater's wattage is appropriate for the tank size. Factors like room temperature, tank insulation, and water circulation can also affect heating time.
- Heater Not Working: If the heater doesn't turn on when the water temperature is below the set point, check the power connections and ensure the thermal detector is properly plugged in. If the heating indicator is off, it means the heater is not receiving power or the controller has detected an issue.
