Fuel Tank Repair
REMOVE
WARNING
The lift truck
must be put on blocks for some
types of main
tenance and repair. The removal
of the follow
ing assemblies will cause large
changes in th
e center of gravity: mast, drive
axle, engine
and transmission, and the coun-
terweight. W
hen the lift truck is put on blocks,
put additio
nal blocks in the following posi-
tions to mai
ntain stability:
a. Before remo
ving the mast and drive axle,
put blocks u
nder the counterweight so the
lift truck c
annot fall backward.
b. Before remo
ving the counterweight, put
blocks unde
r the mast assembly so the lift
truck canno
tfallforward.
The surfac
e must be solid, even, and level when
the lift tr
uck is put on blocks. Make sure that
any blocks
used to support the lift truck are
solid, one
piece units.
1. Remove the
engine and transmission. See En-
gine Repai
r.
WARNING
Do not use tool
s that can make sparks, heat, or
static electr
icity. The vapors in the tank can
cause an explo
sion. Clean all fuel spills. Make
sure the fuel
from the tank is put in a closed
container.
2. Remove the dr
ain plug and drain the fuel from
the tank. Dis
connect the fuel lines at the tank
and put caps
on the openings.
3. Remove the fi
ller neck from the fuel tank. Re-
move the hoo
ks that hold the tank to the frame.
Remove the f
uel tank.
REPAIR
Repair the f
uel tank as described in the repair proce-
dures for t
he hydraulic tank.
INSTALL
1. Put the tan
kinpositionintheframe.Installthe
filler nec
k and the hooks.
2. Install th
e engine and transmission. Connect the
fuel lines
to the tank.
Radiator
Repair
REMOVE
1. Remove th
ehoodasanassembly.
2. Drain the
coolant from the radiator. Disconnect
the radi
ator hoses. If equipped, disconnect the
lines fr
om the powershift transmission. Put caps
on the op
en lines.
3. Remove t
he screws that hold the fan shroud to
the radi
ator. Remove the nuts that hold the ra-
diator t
otheframe.
4. Remove t
he radiator.
INSTALL
1. Put the fa
nshroudinpositionoverthefan. In-
stall th
e radiator to the mounts on the frame. In-
stall th
efanshroudontheradiator.
2. Connect
the radiator hoses and lines for the pow-
ershift
transmission.
3. Install
the hood. Fill the radiator with coolant,
then ope
rate the engine and check for leaks.
