Battery Care

Always recharge for 8-12 hours after use with FX41 ON and loadbars disconnected.

Site Preparation

Weighing site choice is important for accuracy and ease. A well-chosen level site ensures best conditions for weighing.

Getting Started

Display Examples

LCD shows H, C, or L alongside weight. Lower display shows ID, Group, and Condition Code.

Duplicate Tag Protection

Prevents accidental ID duplication within a group. Feature can be selected ON or OFF in SET-UP.

ID Entry - Alternative Mode

Type ID and press WEIGH for quick operation, or type ID then ENTER for weight display.

Weigh Modes

Hold Mode

Used for weighing live animals. WEIGH key starts averaging process displaying accurate weight of moving animal.

Free Mode

Suitable for static load weighing. Display continuously updated with weight on scale.

Auto-Draft Option

When enabled, offers Speed Mode (1.3s weigh), High Speed Mode (0.7s weigh), and Count Mode (fixed time hold).

Group Files

Selecting Group Files

Press GROUP to display current file number. Allows selection of files 1-99 for weighing sessions.

Deleting Records

To delete group file records, select group, press DELETE, then confirm by pressing ENTER.

Using the Global Group File

'GRP = 0 ALL RECORDS' accesses all memory contents regardless of group file location.

Making Good Use of Group Files

Improve record management by using separate files for different weighing sessions or animal categories.

Statistics

Displaying Statistics

Press * key for stats. Use keys 1-9 for functions like records used, average code, and draft totals.

Iconix FX Printer Option

Rugged, portable printer powered by FX41 battery. Uses adding machine paper rolls, reduces operation hours.

Memory

Accessing Records in Memory

Select group file, press MEMORY, then use ↑ key to scroll by ID or Weight. Press ENTER to perform function.

Deleting or Editing Records

Records can be deleted or edited during scrolling. Options: DELETE RECORD, EDIT ID, EDIT WEIGHT, EDIT CONDITION CODE.

Uploading Records to Computer

Use optional WinFX Linker Package to upload records via RS232 serial port for viewing, sorting, or analysis.

Drafting (Sorting By Weight)

Setting Draft Limits, Min;Max Weight

Set draft limits for sorting animals into weight ranges. Define minimum and maximum acceptable weights for records.

Drafting by Weight Gain

Draft animals by weight gained since previous weighing or average daily gain. Compares gain against Gain Limits.

Set-Up

Prefixing: On;Off

Allows ID prefix up to 8 digits. ID automatically set to prefix, then extra digits added if required.

Weight Gain: Off;Auto;Manual

Set WEIGHT GAIN to OFF for speed, AUTO for automatic calculation, or MANUAL for user control.

Kill-Out Percent

Percent setting (0.0-999.9%) used for calculating kill-out weight or projected growth weights.

Communication with External Devices

Configure FX41 for OFF-LINE, COMPUTER ON-LINE, PRINTER ON-LINE, or DRAFT/EID ON-LINE.

Duplicate ID Check: On;Off

Checks selected Group for previous use of same tag number when WEIGH is pressed.

Multiple Weigh: On;Off

Weighs several animals at a time. Number of animals entered via CODE/MULTIPLE key.

Display Release: On;Off

Controls whether displayed weight remains locked after animal is moved from scale.

Zero-Track: On;Off

Automatically restores scale to zero by 'tracking out' small amounts of dung and dirt.

Units: kg;LB

Select between kilograms and pounds. Change setting only when no records are in memory.

Time and Date Setting

Clock-calendar settings accessed in order: HOURS, MINUTES, YEAR, MONTH, DAY.

Special Modes

Multiple Weigh

Weigh several animals together. Condition Code entry unavailable. Displays average weight and draft status.

Weight Gains

For weight gain analysis, ensure MULTIPLE WEIGH is OFF. Compare weights with most recent or nominated previous weighing.

Auto-Drafting

Using the Iconix Auto-Draft Controller

Automates drafting of cattle/sheep with crates fitted with Iconix Auto-Draft Controller.

Drafting Modes

GENERAL mode for conventional crates. RACEWELL mode for crates that clamp sheep.

Starting the Weigh;Draft Cycle

Select TRIGGER=WEIGH KEY for manual start or TRIGGER=EXTERNAL for automatic start upon animal entry.

Delay Settings in General Mode

WEIGH DELAY delays weigh cycle start. RELEASE DELAY delays OUT gate opening.

Drafting Gate Direction

When auto-draft enabled, setting selects gate direction for High, Centre, Low weights.

Default Draft Direction

Select DEFAULT DRAFT=LEFT, CENTRE, RIGHT for animals not meeting other criteria.

Manual Override of Auto-Drafting

Override FX41-selected drafting direction using 0 key. Press 0 to cycle CENTRE, RIGHT, LEFT gates.

These modes are described in Section 3: WEIGH MODES. Refer to that section for details.

Electronic ID (EID)

EID Set-Up Options

Configure EID settings: PREFIXING=OFF, DRAFT/EID ON-LINE, EID=ON, READ CONTINUOUS/AFTER TRIGGER, TIMEOUT, HALT IF NO EID/XREF.

Drafting by EID

Draft animals based on EID. Load file with EIDs and directions. Gates open based on pre-loaded record.

EID;VID Cross Reference Table

Adding Cross-Reference Entries

Add new entries by typing Visual ID and scanning EID. EID must be unique; warning for duplicate attempts.

Scrolling Through Cross-Reference Table

View VID and associated EID. Scroll up/down through entries. Options to DELETE or EDIT entries.

Planning an EID Based System

The Cross-Reference Table

Use EID/VID cross reference table. Attach EIDs separately. Type Visual ID and scan EID for each animal.

Specifications

Resolution

Autoranges in graduated steps. Includes Metric and Imperial models with varying resolutions.

Minimum Capacity

20 kg. The 0-20kg range is available but not part of EMC specification.

Accuracy

± 0.5% of Displayed Reading ± 1 Division. Division depends on weight range.

RF Immunity

Maximum additional error in 3V/m RF field (27-500 MHz) specified for different weight ranges.

EMC Approvals

Meets or exceeds standards: IEC801-2 (ESD), EM50081-1 (Radiation), EM50082-1 (RF Immunity).
