AIRBAG
Side airbag*
The side airbag is designed to function
in case of serious side collision; the
airbag on the collided side will swell
during collision.
The side airbag is used to provide an
airbag between the front occupant
(driver or front passenger) and the door
to mitigate the injury to the head and
upper body.
The airbag will not deploy for auxiliary
safety protection in case of slight side
collision or scratch, rear/front collision or
rollover.
Side airbag - working
In case of violent side collision, the airbag
on the collided side will inate and swell
and then deploy from the designated
tear on the front seat backrest, so as to
mitigate the impact to the front occupant
towards the door side; afterwards, the
airbag will deate quickly.
The whole process is completed in an
extremely short period, approximately
1/10s.
Warning:
For seat backrest equipped with
side airbag, it is prohibited to install
inappropriate seat cover since it will
impede the airbag extension.
