Opening the Housing
Lid Snaps have a Lock. To open,
push Lid Snap Lock forward and lift as
shown. Keep pressure on the Lid
Snap so it does not fly open quickly.
Lid Snaps have a lot of spring tension
once they go over center, so have a
firm grip on the Lid Snap. Lid Snaps
may be opened one at a time.

Initial Camera Setup
- Insert a fully charged battery.
- Insert SD memory card (2GB or greater capacity recommended).
- Set the mode dial to “M” manual.
- Set Time Zone and Date.
- Set shutter speed to 1/60th second or 1/125th second for fast
moving subjects. Maximum shutter speed of 1/250th second
recommended to allow full power flashes from strobes.
- Set aperture to F8 for general photography or F22 for macro
photography (close-ups).
- Set Image Quality to Fine or RAW.
- Set ISO sensitivity to 100.
- Set Meter to “center-weighted”.
- Set White Balance to “Auto”.
- Make sure Red-Eye Reduction is “Off”.
- Make sure AF-assist illuminator is “Off”.
- Set Focus mode to “AF-S” or “AF-F” for continuous movie record.
- Set AF-area mode to Wide-area AF.
- In Menu “Custom Settings” set “F” Controls > “F7 release button to use
dial” > set to “Yes”. This will allow certain command dial settings to be
made without keeping a button depressed.
