Ingenico Desk Series Quick Start Guide

1. Powering your terminal
Your Ingenico Desk series EFTPOS terminal
requires a power connection in order to
operate. This is connected to the “magic box”
located at the end of the coiled black cable.
Plug the power connection into the round port
with the lightning bolt icon on the magic box.
The power adapter then connects to your wall
outlet to power the EFTPOS terminal.
2. Connecting your terminal to the Internet
Your terminal supports multiple connection types. Depending on your terminal
model and desired connection type, a cable may be required. If your terminal
is connected with a SIM (3G/4G) or via Wi-Fi a cable will not be required. If
you are unsure please consult Eftco technical support.
For a cabled Internet connection start by connecting
your Ethernet (network) cable to the port labelled
“ETH” on the magic box. The other end of the
Ethernet cable should be connected to your network.
Depending on your network setup this could be
connected directly to your modem/router, or a
network wall port.
For a dial-up connection your telephone cable will
connect to the port labelled “IN”. Please pay special
attention to the port labels, the telephone cable will fit
into the other ports and can cause costly hardware
damage when incorrectly connected. Once connected
to the “IN” port on the magic box, the other end of
the cable can be plugged into an analogue telephone wall port. Dial-up should
only be used in cases where an Internet connection is not available, when using this
connection type transactions will perform slowly and updates will not download.
