What to do if my Ingersoll-Rand Force 5i does not lift load or does not lift rated capacity?
    • B
      Bethany MooreNov 25, 2025
If your Ingersoll-Rand Winches does not lift the load or does not lift to its rated capacity, consider the following: * Remove and disassemble the motor as described in “MAINTENANCE” on page 6 and examine all parts and replace any that are worn or damaged if the motor may be damaged. * Verify the air supply pressure and volume at the winch inlet meets the requirements listed in the “SPECIFICATIONS” section in the Product Information Manual and clean the air line filter if there is insufficient air supply. * Check that the brake release pilot hole is not restricted and that the seals on the cylinder piston are not damaged if the brake is not releasing. The brake will start to release at 50 psig (3.5 bar/350 kPa). * Reduce the load to within the rated capacity if the winch is overlo...

Why is my Ingersoll-Rand Force 5i running slow?
    • G
      George LiAug 26, 2025
If your Ingersoll-Rand Winches is running slow, it could be due to several factors: * Check fittings, connections, and hoses for correct size and length if there are improper hose or fitting sizes. Replace parts that may cause restricted air flow. Inspect air line filter. * Verify air supply pressure and volume at winch inlet meets the requirements if there is insufficient air supply. Refer to “SPECIFICATIONS” section in Product Information Manual. Clean air line filter. * Remove and disassemble motor as described in “MAINTENANCE” on page 6 and inspect all parts and replace all worn or damaged parts if the motor may be damaged. * Refer to brakes in “MAINTENANCE” on page 6 if the brakes are not releasing.

What to do if my Ingersoll-Rand Force 5i Winches load continues to move when winch is stopped?
    • R
      ronald20Aug 27, 2025
If the load continues to move when the winch is stopped, here's what you should check: * Check ‘Automatic Band Brake (optional feature)’ on page 6 and brake band lining wear if the brake is slipping. Also, check brake friction disc wear. * Reduce load to within rated capacity if the winch is overloaded. * Check pendant/throttle levers spring return to normal (neutral) position when released if the winch motor controls are sticking.

What to do if my Ingersoll-Rand Force 5i throttle or pendant lever moves but winch does not operate?
    • D
      Douglas BryanAug 29, 2025
If the throttle or pendant lever moves but the winch does not operate, consider the following: * Disassemble and clean the motor and replace any broken or damaged parts if the motor may be damaged. * Ensure air pressure at winch inlet is at least 90 psig (6.3 bar/630 kPa) at rated volume and clean the air line filter if there is insufficient air supply. * Check hose and fitting connections for air leaks. Inspect hose(s) for breaks. Tighten fittings and repair or replace hoses as necessary.

What causes air lines to freeze in Ingersoll-Rand Force 5i Winches?
    • S
      Sean ValenzuelaAug 30, 2025
Air lines freeze due to water in the air supply. Install or drain air system moisture traps, moisture collecting air receivers, and compressor aftercoolers. After corrective action has been taken, disconnect lines at the winch inlet and purge with clean, dry air or nitrogen.

Why does my Ingersoll-Rand Winches brake fail to release?
    • L
      Lisa AlexanderSep 23, 2025
If the brake fails to release, it could be due to low air supply pressure; ensure the air pressure at the inlet to the disc brake is at least 45 psig (3.1 bar/310 kPa). Leaking piston seals might also be the cause; inspect the brake breather, and if air escapes when attempting to release the brake, replace the brake seals. Check for proper operation of winch controls. A sticking brake piston could also be the issue; apply 45 psig (3.1 bar/310 kPa) to the brake release port and check for brake disc movement through the brake breather hole.

What causes Ingersoll-Rand Winches brake cylinder not to release?
    • K
      Kelly WestSep 18, 2025
If the brake cylinder won't release, the band brake might be out of adjustment; adjust it to maintain the correct cylinder stroke. Leaking cylinder seals could also be the problem; if air escapes from the cylinder breather when trying to release the brake, replace or repair the cylinder. A dirty filter in the air supply can cause this issue; clean or replace the filter. Lastly, a faulty dump valve could be the cause; check the dump valve exhaust port to ensure air exhausts when the control valve handle is in neutral, and replace the dump valve if no air escapes.

How to troubleshoot a throttle lever that is hard to actuate on Ingersoll-Rand Winches?
    • W
      Wendy CarrSep 22, 2025
If the throttle lever is hard to actuate or doesn't spring back to neutral, the reverse valve might be sticking in the bushing. To fix this, remove and disassemble the control valve, clean the control valve parts, and check the clearance between the reverse valve and bushing.

What to do if my Ingersoll-Rand Force 5i Winches winch does not lift load or does not lift rated capacity?
    • E
      Erika BowmanSep 9, 2025
If your winch isn't lifting or pulling its rated capacity, the motor might be damaged, requiring disassembly and inspection for worn or damaged parts. Ensure sufficient air supply pressure and volume at the winch inlet, meeting the requirements, and clean the air line filter. Check the brake to ensure it is releasing properly, verifying the brake release pilot hole isn't restricted and the cylinder piston seals aren't damaged, noting that the brake should start releasing at 45 psig (3.1 bar/310 kPa). Finally, ensure the winch isn't overloaded by reducing the load to within its rated capacity.

Why is the throttle lever hard to actuate, or lever does not spring return to neutral in Ingersoll-Rand Winches?
    • S
      saramorrisonSep 5, 2025
If the throttle lever is hard to actuate, or the lever does not spring return to neutral, remove and disassemble the control valve and clean control valve parts and check clearance between reverse valve and bushing because the reverse valve might be sticking in the bushing.
