  If the load continues to move when the winch is stopped, here's what you should check: * Check ‘Automatic Band Brake (optional feature)’ on page 6 and brake band lining wear if the brake is slipping. Also, check brake friction disc wear. * Reduce load to within rated capacity if the winch is overloaded. * Check pendant/throttle levers spring return to normal (neutral) position when released if the winch motor controls are sticking.

  If the brake cylinder won't release, the band brake might be out of adjustment; adjust it to maintain the correct cylinder stroke. Leaking cylinder seals could also be the problem; if air escapes from the cylinder breather when trying to release the brake, replace or repair the cylinder. A dirty filter in the air supply can cause this issue; clean or replace the filter. Lastly, a faulty dump valve could be the cause; check the dump valve exhaust port to ensure air exhausts when the control valve handle is in neutral, and replace the dump valve if no air escapes.
