The Ingersoll Rand QE Series DC Electric Tools are designed for precision assembly applications, offering accurate, consistent, and repeatable torque control for unique and critical tightening requirements. These tools are exclusively compatible with Ingersoll Rand IC family DC Controllers. For comprehensive product safety information, users should refer to Product Safety Information Manual 16573685, which can be downloaded from ingersollrand.com.
Important Technical Specifications:
The QE Series tools are available in various configurations, including QE2, QE4, QE6, and QE8 models, each with specific torque ranges and attachment options.
Usage Features:
- ESD and Grounding: QE2 tools are ESD safe, featuring grips made from static dissipative material that bleeds static charge to ground, preventing static charge buildup. Additional ESD precautions are recommended when handling extremely sensitive components. Refer to the "Grounding Instruction Section" in the Ingersoll Rand DC Electric Tool Controller manuals for detailed grounding instructions.
- Cable Connection: GEA40-CORD-*M tool cables are compatible with QE2, QE4, QE6, and QE8 tools. CPS2-CORD-*M tool cables are exclusively for QE2 tools. For QE4, QE6, or QE8 tools with 90° strain reliefs, the 90° fitting must be unsnapped to allow the cable to rotate freely before attaching or removing.
- Torque Arm Mounting: For applications with torque exceeding 4 Nm (inline tools), 10 Nm (pistol tools), or reaction force on the operator exceeding 223 N (angle tools), a torque reaction arm, bar, flange, or fixture is recommended. For QE2 tools, the torque arm clamp should be mounted over the larger diameter section of the Suspension Nut.
- Angle Assembly Attachment Orientation: The motor housing assembly is keyed or splined to allow the angle assembly attachment to be positioned radially. To reposition, loosen the coupling nut, remove the attachment, reorient the housing lock spacer and/or motor housing assembly for 15° rotational increments, and then re-torque the coupling nut to the specified values (15-18 lb.ft for QE2, 45-50 lb.ft for QE4/QE6/QE8).
- Direction of Rotation (QE2): To switch the direction of rotation, press and release the reverse button once. A blue light above the button indicates reverse mode. To resume forward direction, press and release the toggle button again; the blue light will turn off.
- Adjustments: Always disconnect the tool from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing it to prevent accidental startup. When adjusting attachments, always hold the tool by the spanner holes or flats to tighten or loosen coupling nuts, never use a vise to grip the tool to avoid damage.
Maintenance Features:
- Lubrication: All lubrication should be performed by authorized trained personnel. For tools requiring lubrication (every 150,000 cycles), contact the nearest Ingersoll Rand Authorized Service Center.
- Routine Maintenance: Maintenance and repairs must be carried out by authorized trained personnel. For service or repair needs, contact the nearest Ingersoll Rand Authorized Service Center.
- Chemical Exposure: Do not allow chemicals such as acetone, benzene, thinner, ketone, or trichloroethylene to come into contact with the housing, as this will result in damage.
- Annual Service: The tool should be serviced at least once a year.
- Cleanliness: Keep the exterior of the unit clean and dry.
- End-of-Life: When the tool reaches the end of its service life, it is recommended to disassemble, degrease, and separate parts by material type for recycling.
- Documentation: Original instructions are in English; other language versions are translations. All communications should be directed to the nearest Ingersoll Rand office or distributor.
