What to do if my Intex Krystal Clear Deluxe filter motor fails to start?
    • S
      Susan YoungAug 16, 2025
First, ensure the filter cord is plugged into a 3-wire outlet protected by a Class A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, or RCD. Then, check the fuse box and reset the circuit breaker. If it trips repeatedly, there may be an electrical system defect, so turn off the breaker and call an electrician. Finally, the motor may be too hot; allow it to cool down.

Check for obstructions in the intake or discharge hose inside the pool wall. Tighten hose nuts and inspect hoses for damage. Also, verify the pool water level. Replace the cartridge if there's scale or buildup, and clean the cartridge more often if the pool is excessively dirty. Clean inside the plunger valve and ensure the valve handle is in the full upright position.

Ensure the pool is filled to the correct water level. Clean the strainer screens at the pool inlet. Tighten the hose nuts and check the hose for any damage. Check for and clear any obstructions like sticks or leaves in the pump intake. Turn and pull the valve handle to the full upright position to release any air lock inside the cartridge chamber.

      Elizabeth VaughnAug 26, 2025
Ensure the plunger valves are opened, and the filter cartridge and cell are free from debris and dirt. Also, make sure all trapped air is released from the circulation line. Check that the water inlet and outlet hoses are correctly directed, reversing them if necessary. Ensure the flow sensor, especially the hinge, is clean and that the flow sensor cord is securely connected.

Adjust the sanitizer and pH levels, consulting your local swimming pool supply store if needed. Clean or replace the filter cartridge, checking for any holes and replacing it if damaged. Operate the filter for longer periods if the pool is excessively dirty. Clean the strainer screen at the pool wall inlet to ensure it's not restricting flow.
