What to do if I cannot hear recordings from my ION PROFILE LP Turntable on my computer?

      Sandra LeeAug 1, 2025
If you cannot hear your recordings when playing them from your computer, make sure that your computer’s audio playback options are configured correctly. In Windows XP, go to Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices (on Windows XP) or Start > Control Panel > Sound (on Windows Vista) and ensure that your computer’s audio card is selected as the Sound Playback device under the Audio tab. Alternatively, you can play audio from your computer through the turntable’s RCA audio outputs by selecting “USB Audio Codec” as the Sound Playback device; any audio from your computer will then play through the turntable’s RCA outputs.

Poor sound quality from your ION Turntable may be due to a loose cartridge connection. Ensure the cartridge is securely connected to the tonearm. Also, the vinyl record may be dirty or scratched. Try dusting off and gently wiping the surface of the record before playing it.

If your recordings are mono instead of stereo when recording into your computer on Windows Vista, you may need to manually specify “stereo” for the recording input. To do this, go to Start > Control Panel > Sound (in Classic View). Click on the Recording tab and highlight the Microphone input (USB Audio Codec). Click on Properties to bring up the input settings.
