UNDERGROUND WIRE PULL
Page 25
1. Pivot front extension assembly as needed and reinsert pin. (Fig. 1)
2. Lift up the front end and place the conduit adapter into conduit. (Fig 2.) Always make sure the
conduit adapter sits flush around the conduit you are pulling through.
3. Replace pin front assembly to lock all parts tight. (Fig. 3) This must be pinned for the puller to
operate safely and properly.
4. Make sure the side set screw is tight on the universal adapter. (For steps 1-4, see pages 23-24)
5. Do not stand in-line with the rope being pulled. Rather, stand to the side of the puller
to avoid injury if the rope breaks.
6. Use proper lubricant to make pulling jobs smoother.
7. Determine which capstan you will be using. For loads under 6,000lb./2,721 kg. use the large
diameter capstan. For loads over 6,000lb./2,721 kg. use the small diameter capstan. (Fig. 4)
Note: To achieve the optimum pulling speed when making a wire pull, listen to the sound of the motor.
If it is determined that the motor is straining, switch to the small diameter capstan.
