3.2 Installation
3.2.1 Installed Position
Depending on the desired method of operation, the following must be taken into account when installing
JAUDT Vario butterfly valves:
Hand-operated lever: any desired position
Motor drive: position housing horizontally (see Fig. on Page 5)
Other positions on request.
Pneumatic drive: any desired position
3.2.2 Installation Instructions
The installation of JAUDT Vario butterfly valves can be carried out by skilled workmen without the need for
special tools or fixtures. Before installation, check the following:
The opposing flange surfaces must be parallel.
The internal diameter of the opposing flange must correspond to the internal diameter of the butterfly
valve. The sealing plate must be able to turn over the whole 90° range of rotation without obstruction.
Are the materials for the sealing plate/seals suitable for the usage envisaged?
All flange surfaces must be clean.
Always install with the sealing plate in the closed position.
Align the JAUDT Vario butterfly valve precisely with the pipework.
No tension should be put on the JAUDT Vario butterfly valve during installation. Therefore tighten the
fittings crosswise over the valve.
The maximal torque of 60 Nm with surface mounting (1 adapter) and of 100 Nm with intermediate
flange (2 adapter) may not be exceeded.
Only for JAUDT Vario butterfly valves with a continuous seal:
An additional flange seal is not necessary. The protruding seal-ring on the rotary flap ensures leak-
tightness when the opposing flange is surface parallel.
