Brake controller (customer supplied)
The brake controller should be installed in the
tow vehicle to work in conjunction with the RV
electric brakes. Hydraulic or electronic
controllers are available. Consult with your RV
dealer or the OEM to decide what is right for
your towing combination.
For more information
Read the OEM operator’s manual. Canadian
transportation laws require that brake linings
be replaced if there is any cracking for
semi-tractor and trailers only. This does not
apply to recreation vehicles. Also refer to:
0 Sec. 3. Electrical Systems, Auxiliary
battery (customer supplied)
0 Sec. 7. Towing & Handling, Wire
harness/connector plug
0 Sec. 7 Towing & Handling, Breakaway
switch
TRAILER FRAME
Sand, pebbles, objects on the highway,
climate (salt air exposure) or ice inhibiting
chemicals used during the winter months will
damage the paint, inviting rust and other
deterioration. Periodically inspect the exterior
exposed areas, clean and repaint the steel
members occasionally and whenever you
notice rust or paint chipped away, to insure
protection.
If rust occurs, the frame should be cleaned and
painted. We recommend the use of
Rust-Oleum® Rusty Metal Primer and
Rust-Oleum® gloss black paint (follow the
directions on the paint can). To prevent rust or
corrosion, you may wish to purchase a
commercial treatment application such as
Ziebart®, etc. Rust or frame damage resulting
from lack of routine maintenance voids the
Towable Limited Warranty.
ROOF
Additional items secured to the roof of your
camping trailer must be added into the overall
RV weight. The load capacity of the roof must
not be exceeded. The maximum weight of
equipment secured to the roof (in the travel
mode) must not exceed 350#. It is your
responsibility to know the weight of any
installed or loaded aftermarket equipment
(added equipment will reduce the available
cargo capacity).
The maximum weight that the roof can lift is
250# (this includes aftermarket equipment
such as a bike rack, canopy, air conditioner,
boat rack, etc.) The following list provides
approximate empty weights for Jayco provided
brands. If you purchase other brands, contact
the OEM for the component weight ratings.

Never mount a storage pod directly to the
roof. It is necessary to provide a rack system
that secures to the outer edges of the roof to
support and evenly distribute the weight of the
storage pod. Consult your RV dealer for proper
installation.
Never walk on the roof. The roof of a
folding camping trailer is not designed to
accommodate the weight, scratches, dents
and punctures that can occur from walking on
the roof.
All camping trailers have a ceiling light circuit
fed through a master shut-off switch that
prevents 12-volt current from flowing to the
ceiling lights with the roof lowered. Periodically
test the light and switch to be sure the switch
adjustment is correct. The switch is located
along the bottom edge of the roof on the
roadside.
