  First, ensure the JBL Speaker System is receiving power. Check that the wall power outlet or power strip has power and that all switches for both the outlet/power strip and the speaker system are turned on. Also, verify that the control/right satellite speaker is correctly plugged in. Disconnect and reconnect the control speaker connector from the subwoofer, making sure it's securely pushed in.

  If you're experiencing distortion, it could be due to several factors. First, check for monitor interference by turning off the monitor to see if the noise disappears, and move speaker cables away from the monitor. Ensure the speaker is properly connected to the correct receptacle, paying attention to color-coding. Also, verify that all signal cables are snugly inserted. The volume level on your sound card might be too high, so check it via Windows Volume Control. To isolate the problem, test the speakers with another audio source by plugging them into the CD ROM headphone jack instead of the sound card.
