Pressure Testing
Preparing for Testing
1 Switch off the engine and relieve system pressure by
operating the backhoe controls a few times.
2 Disconnect the feed hose from the valve block and
insert a 'T' adapter between the valve block and the
hose. Attach a 0 - 400 bar (0 - 6000 lbf/in
2
) pressure
gauge to the 'T' adapter.
3 Start the engine.
Pressure Testing
Note: Clockwise adjustment of the relief valves increases
the pressure relief setting.
Main Relief Valve (MRV)
Operate the bucket dump service until it reaches the end of
its travel. Continue to operate the lever and note the
pressure at which the MRV operates. The pressure should
be 172 bar (2494 lbf/in
2
). Adjust cartridge A, if necessary, to
achieve this setting.
Boom ARV
1 Adjust the MRV setting to 190 bar (2755 lbf/in
2
)
approximately, using the procedure above.
2 Connect the locking stay B as shown. Operate and hold
the boom lower service.
3 Adjust ARV C to operate at 180 bar (2610 lbf/in
2
).
4 Operate and hold the boom raise service.
5 Adjust ARV D to operate at 180 bar (2610 lbf/in
2
).
6 Reset the MRV to its normal operating pressure (see
Main Relief Valve).
7 Disconnect locking stay B and stow it as shown by the
dotted line.
Slew ARV
1 Slew the superstructure left to the end of its travel and
continue to operate the lever.
2 Adjust ARV E to operate at 158 bar (2290 lbf/in
2
).
3 Slew the superstructure right to the end of its travel and
continue to operate the lever.
4 Adjust ARV F to operate at 158 bar (2290 lbf/in
2
).
Dipper ARV
1 Carry out step 1 of Boom ARV.
2 Fully raise the boom, then lower the dipper to the end of
its travel and continue to operate the lever.
3 Adjust ARV G to operate at 180 bar (2610 lbf/in
2
).
4 Raise the dipper to the end of its travel and continue to
operate the lever.
5 Adjust ARV H to operate at 180 bar (2610 lbf/in
2
).
6 Reset the MRV to its normal operating pressure (see
Main Relief Valve).
Bucket ARV
1 Carry out step 1 of Boom ARV.
2 Operate the 'bucket crowd' control so that the bucket
reaches the end of its travel and continue to operate the
control.
3 Adjust ARV J to operate at 180 bar (2610 lbf/in
2
).
4 Reset the MRV to its normal operating pressure (see
Main Relief Valve).
