MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
.!err.Dan ronback truck ded<S are designed for years of service wI1h lime maintenance. This
smaJIamounl
01
maintenance, however, Is very ImpDrtlnt for durablllly and for sale operaUon
of 1Ile dod<.
Maintenance Is an ownerruser responsibility as neither tile manufacturer nor tile distributor
can normally control tills funetlon.
Use only sale practices when maintaining tills equipment Never get under a Ulled deck
unless ft Is adequately supported (don' rely on 1Ile hydraulic system). Always shut oft tile
engine betore reaching Into pinch areas as when checking tile hydraulic 011level or greasing
ooder the deck. MaIntain a clean shop lor safely. Clean up splDed 011Immediately.
Il\SIlecl the vehicle and deck system periodically for damage or evidence 01 pending leIIure.
Damaged or broken par1Sshould be replaoed immediately. Never operete a machine which
Is known to be defective or operalng Improperly. The cause 01any binding or leaJcageshould
be determined Immediately and the problem prompUy nxed.
SIdIng surfaces are to be deened end coated wlth a heavy grease pe~odteelly. Cleaning
every 6 months Is recommended lor normal hlghWey operellons, but this frequency wln vary
appreciably wlth 1Ile Iype of service. Sliding on dilly wear surfaces win cause repld wear.
FIlIngs on nnkage pivots should be greased every 2 months, again depending upon usage.
see Lube Chart
Check tile hydreU1lC 011level bimonthly or after eny leaJcage. Use 5W20 Dual Renge
hl'd<aullc 011. (AulomaUc transmission nuld may be used In tile hydraulic system "
necessary.)
The proper 011level Is best checked by roiling 1Ile deck back enough to gain aooess to tile
nu pfug (OOIess the chassis conftgurallon caused the 011tank to be mounted abnormally far
to 1Ile rear). The 011tank should be about 213 full wI1h tile deck so poslUoned (shul oft the
engine after moving the deck). This wID result In a 3/4 lull tank wI1h the cylinders fully
!enCled (deck fully forward). (Proper 011level
15
achieved when the hydrauUc 011lust covers
the bollom 01 the screen In the filter ned<.)
The hydraulic niter located on the return side 01 tile hydraulic tank comes equipped with a
restrlctlon Indicator gauge.
this
gauge shows the operator the condition of the niter elemenL
When the needle reaches tile red band (25 psi), the flIter Is starting to bypass and tile
efement needS to be changed. Failure to change the element wlll result In premabJre wear
and/or failure of any Dr all 01tile hydraulic components. Only chock gougo with hydroullc
fluid at operating temperatures. Cold 0111. mont dena. end will give. '.lae Indle.tor
gauge reading.
II a cylinder seal leaks, disassemble the cylinder and aseertlln tile cause Drtile leak. Small
scores caused by chips or con laminated fluid can usually be worked out wllh flne emory cloth
10avoid repeUUon of tile trouble. Whenever any seal replacement Is necessary. It Is always
advisable
to replace
all seals In that
component
These seals
are
available
In
kits. AlSO,
tllOroughly clean all components belore reassembly.
