Why is the braking effect insufficient on my JLG Lifting Systems?
    • J
      Joshua HillAug 18, 2025
If you experience insufficient braking effect with your JLG Lifting Systems, several factors could be responsible. Excessive backlash in the brake system, brake linings that are glazed, oily, or damaged, a jammed or deformed brake linkage, or rusty or kinked brake Bowden cables all require servicing at a qualified workshop. If the brake linings are not yet run in, actuate the hand-brake lever slightly and drive for 1-2 miles (2-3 km). Also, ensure the overrunning hitch isn't hard to operate; if it is, grease it.

Why do the wheel brakes get hot on my JLG Lifting Systems?
    • D
      Dr. Ashley CallahanAug 21, 2025
If the wheel brakes of your JLG Lifting Systems are getting hot, it could be due to several reasons. The brake system may be incorrectly set, the wheel brakes may be dirty, the reversing lever of the overrunning hitch could be jammed, or the spring type actuator may be pre-loaded. All these issues require servicing at a qualified workshop. Another cause could be that the handbrake lever is not fully released; ensure it is set to the zero position.

    • M
      matthew56Aug 28, 2025
If the brake of your JLG Lifting Systems reacts by jerks, it may be caused by excessive backlash in the brake system, a defective shock absorber of the overrunning hitch, or a backmat brake shoe jammed in the brake shoe holder. It is suggested to service at qualified workshop.

Why is reverse driving hard to accomplish on my JLG Lifting Systems?
    • S
      scampbellAug 31, 2025
If reverse driving is hard to accomplish or even impossible with your JLG Lifting Systems, it could be due to a brake system adjusted too tightly or pre-loaded Bowden cables. It is suggested to service at qualified workshop.

    • L
      Lauren AtkinsonSep 4, 2025

Why ball coupling does not rest on ball on my JLG Lifting Systems?
    • C
      Courtney NielsenSep 7, 2025
If the ball coupling of your JLG Lifting Systems does not rest on the ball, it could be due to a dirty coupling interior. Clean and grease it properly. Alternatively, the ball of the towing vehicle might be too big. Check the ball diameter; according to DIN 74058, it must not exceed 50 mm when new and should be Ø 49.5 mm. If it decreases to less than 49.0 mm, replace the ball, ensuring it is perfectly spherical.

    • J
      Joseph MorrisSep 12, 2025
If your JLG Lifting Systems trailer is braked unilaterally, it indicates that the wheel brakes are actuated unilaterally. It is suggested to service at qualified workshop.

Why is my JLG T500J making squeaking, clatter, or chucking noises?
    • L
      Lisa ReynoldsNov 14, 2025
If your JLG Lifting Systems is experiencing squeaking, clattering, or chucking noises, several issues could be the cause. It could be due to a lack of hitch ball lubrication, which can be solved by lubricating it with conventional automotive grease or a commercial lubricant made for hitch balls. Other potential causes include binding linkage and pivots on the brake actuator (oil the linkage & pivots), a loose hitch ball or hitch (inspect and tighten), the actuator being loose on the trailer frame (inspect and tighten), a worn or too-small hitch ball (replace it), overheated brakes (replace the wheel bearing), broken brake drum(s) (replace the brake drum(s) and check the brake shoes), low brake fluid level (fill and bleed the brakes), a worn-out shock absorber (replace it), partial applicat...
