10. Troubleshooting Guide
Symptom
Laser will not turn on
Possible Cause
Vertical position:
Compensator unlocked
Batteries missing or
depleted
Polarity reversed
Solution
Lock compensator for
vertical operation
Change the batteries
Check polarity
Laser turns off after a
short time
Batteries depleted Change or charge the
batteries
Laser will not spin
Batteries depleted Change the batteries
Flashing or Beeping Laser is beyond leveling
range
Laser is out of calibration
Place on surface within
3º of level
Perform calibration
check and calibrate
laser if needed
Laser is not accurately
reading level
Compensator locked
Laser is out of
calibration LESS THAN
1/2" per 10m
Laser is out of
calibration MORE THAN
1/2" per 10m
Unlock compensator to
self-level
Calibrate laser
(procedure in the manual)
or return to Johnson
dealer for calibration
Return to Johnson
dealer for service
