BALUSTER SPACING
You are going to install a handrail at the top of a balcony.
Your total span is 273.5 Inches and you would like the
space between the balusters to be about 4 Inches. If each
baluster is 1-1/2 Inches wide, how many balusters are need
in this span?

(Round to nearest whole number, i.e. 50)
50-1=49** (49 balusters)
* Desired spacing plus baluster width (4 Inches plus
1-1/2 Inch)
** 1 baluster is subtracted since we don’t want one on the
very end of the handrail.
