This document is the operator's manual for the Jonsered L2821 lawn mower. It provides comprehensive information on safety rules, assembly, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the device.
Function Description
The Jonsered L2821 is a cutting machine designed for mowing lawns. It is equipped with an internal combustion engine and can be operated in mulching mode, rear bagging mode, or rear-side discharging mode. In mulching mode, it recuts grass clippings into fine pieces that disperse into the lawn as nutrients. In rear bagging mode, it collects clippings in a grass catcher. Rear-side discharging allows the machine to discharge material to the left while cutting. The machine is self-propelled, with drive controlled by levers on the handle.

Usage Features
- Operator Presence Control Bar: This safety feature ensures the engine stops when the bar is released, minimizing the risk of blade contact injury.
- Handle Adjustment: The handle can be set to a comfortable operating height or folded into a vertical storage/transport position to minimize space.
- Cutting Height Control: The cutting height is easily adjustable using a spring-loaded lever, allowing users to select from 9 different positions to suit lawn requirements. Medium height is recommended for most lawns.
- Mulching Capability: The mower is shipped ready for mulching, which recuts grass clippings to provide nutrients to the lawn.
- Rear Bagging: A grass catcher can be installed to collect clippings.
- Rear-Side Discharging: A discharge chute can be installed for rear-side material discharge.
- Self-Propelled Drive: Forward motion is controlled by pulling drive levers towards the handle; the further they are pulled, the faster the unit travels. Releasing the levers stops forward motion.
- Wash-out Port: Equipped with a fitting for quick and easy cleaning of the underside of the housing using a garden hose.
Maintenance Features
- Regular Checks: The manual emphasizes daily checks for bolts, nuts, grass catcher, tires, drive wheels, and the machine's cleanliness.
- Engine Oil: Requires checking the oil level before starting and every 5 hours of continuous use. Initial oil change is recommended after the first 5 hours of operation.
- Air Filter: Should be cleaned and replaced regularly (every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first), especially in dusty conditions, to ensure proper engine function.
- Spark Plug: Recommended to be replaced at the beginning of each mowing season or after every 100 hours of operation.
- Blade Maintenance: Regular inspection for cracks or damage is crucial. Blades should be balanced after sharpening, and damaged blades must be replaced immediately with manufacturer-approved parts.
- Drive Belt: Instructions are provided for removing and replacing the drive belt, emphasizing the use of genuine parts.
- Fuel System Care: Advises using fresh, clean, regular unleaded gasoline and provides instructions for emptying the fuel tank for long-term storage or using fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel system damage from alcohol-blended fuels.
- General Lubrication: Recommends keeping the unit well lubricated, with specific instructions for engine oil and caution against oiling plastic wheel bearings with viscous lubricants.
- Muffler Inspection: Regular checks are required to ensure the muffler is complete and securely attached, as a damaged muffler can increase noise and fire hazard.
- Cleaning: Detailed instructions for cleaning the machine, including the underside of the housing, engine top, air intake, and grass catcher, with warnings against using high-pressure washers directly on the engine.
