Overview

The Jonsered LT 2313 CA is a combustion-engine-powered ride-on lawn mower designed for seated operators. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for its assembly, operation, and maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient use.

Function Description

The LT 2313 CA is primarily used for mowing lawns. Its key operational controls include:

  • Light Switch: For controlling the headlights.
  • Throttle/Choke Control: Regulates engine speed and blade rotation speed. Pushing the lever fully forward engages the choke for cold starts, while pulling it fully back sets the engine to idle. Optimal mowing speed is typically found between these two extremes.
  • Brake and Clutch Pedal: Used for declutching, braking the tractor, and starting the engine.
  • Forward/Reverse Drive Pedal: Controls the direction and speed of movement. Depressing the pedal slowly initiates movement, with ground speed increasing as the pedal is further depressed.
  • Cutting Unit Connection/Disconnection: Engages or disengages the drive to the cutting unit. Moving the lever forward tensions the drive belt and starts blade rotation. Moving it backward disconnects the drive and slows blade rotation using brake shoes. If the grass bagger is not fully closed, blades will not engage, and the engine will shut off.
  • Quick Lifting/Lowering of the Cutting Unit: Allows for rapid adjustment of the cutting unit height. Pulling the lever backward quickly lifts the unit, useful for passing over uneven terrain. For transport, the cutting unit should be in its highest, locked position.
  • Ignition Lock: Features four positions: OFF (all electrical current broken), ROS ON (Reverse Operation System connected), ON (electric current connected), and START (start motor connected). The ROS allows the mower deck or other powered attachments to operate while in reverse, but this is strongly discouraged for mowing.
  • Parking Brake: Engaged by fully depressing the brake pedal and pulling the parking brake lever upwards. Released by simply pushing the brake pedal again.
  • Free-wheel Control Lever: Must be pulled out and locked in position to tow or move the tractor without engine power.
  • Bagger System: The tractor is equipped with a grass bagger for collecting clippings. An alarm signals when the bagger is full. The bagger can be manually dumped by raising the dump handle and pulling it forward. The bagger pivot bracket can be adjusted vertically and horizontally to maintain a consistent gap between the fender and the bagger assembly.
  • Deck Washout Port: Located on the cutting unit surface, this port is part of the deck wash system and should be used after each mowing session to clean the deck.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Engine Power: 8.44 hp / 6.30 kW (average gross power output at specified RPM, measured using SAE Standards).
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 5.67 Liters / 1.5 Gallons.
  • Fuel Type: Fresh, clean, regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 91 RON (87 AKI in U.S.). Do not mix oil with gasoline.
  • Oil Capacity: 48 Oz. / 1.4 L.
  • Oil Type: SAE 30 (above 32°F/0°C) or SAE 5W30 (below 32°F/0°C).
  • Spark Plug: QC12YC (Gap: .030"/0.76 mm).
  • Speed: 0 - 6.7 km/h.
  • Cutting Height: 38 - 102 mm.
  • Weight: 190 KG.
  • Noise Levels: LpA < 83 dBa, LwA < 100 dBa.
  • Vibration Levels: Aw = 3.88 m/s² (handlebar), Aw = 0.13 m/s² (seat).
  • Maximum Recommended Operation Angle (Loading/Unloading): 15°.
  • Maximum Slope for Operation: 15°.

Usage Features

  • Safe Operation Practices: Emphasizes reading instructions, avoiding children and pets nearby, not carrying passengers, and seeking professional instruction. Special care is required on slopes, with recommendations to avoid sudden stops/starts, engage clutch slowly, keep speeds low, and be aware of hidden hazards. Mowing across slopes is generally not recommended unless the mower is specifically designed for it.
  • Preparation: Before use, inspect and remove debris, wear substantial footwear and long trousers, and clear the mowing area of objects. Fueling should be done outdoors, without smoking, and with a cool engine. Ensure fuel caps are secure.
  • Starting the Engine: Ensure the cutting unit is in the transport position and the attachment clutch is disengaged. For cold starts, use the choke. For warm starts, set the throttle to half to full gas. Do not run the start motor for more than 5 seconds at a time.
  • Mowing Tips: Clear the lawn of stones and objects. Begin with a high cutting height and gradually reduce it. Best results are achieved with high engine speed and low ground speed. Frequent mowing leads to a more even cut. Avoid mowing wet grass.
  • Brake Check: The brake system should be serviced if the tractor requires more than five feet to stop at highest speed in highest gear on a level, dry concrete or paved surface. A manual check involves engaging the parking brake and ensuring the rear wheels lock when attempting to push the tractor forward.
  • Mower Leveling: Ensure tires are properly inflated. Adjust the mower deck side-to-side and front-to-back for optimal cutting results. The front tip of the blades should be 1/8" to 3/8" lower than the rear tip when the mower is in its highest position.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Service: The manual includes a service record to track maintenance tasks such as engine oil changes, lubrication of pivot points, brake checks, air screen cleaning, air filter replacement, engine cooling fins cleaning, spark plug replacement, tire pressure checks, fuel filter replacement, battery charging, and muffler inspection.
  • Engine Oil: Check oil level before each use. The oil level should be between the two markings on the dipstick. Use SAE 30 or SAE 5W30 oil.
  • Air Filter: A dirty air filter can cause the engine to run improperly. Service the air cleaner more often in dusty conditions.
  • Air Screen: Keep the air screen, located over the air intake blower, free of dirt and chaff to prevent engine damage or overheating.
  • Blades: Mower blades must be kept sharp for best results. Replace bent or damaged blades. Sharpening should be done equally on both sides to avoid imbalance.
  • Transaxle: The fan and cooling fins of the transmission should be kept clean for proper cooling. Do not clean while the engine is running or the transmission is hot. Fluid maintenance is not required unless there's a leak or servicing is needed, in which case a qualified service center should be contacted.
  • Cleaning: The tractor should be cleaned after each use, especially underneath the cutting unit cover. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on the engine and transmission. Compressed air or a leaf blower is recommended for removing grass, leaves, and trash.
  • Storage: At the end of the mowing season, clean the entire machine, touch up paint, change engine oil, drain the fuel tank, remove and store the battery in a cool, dry place, and store the machine indoors in a dry, dust-free area.
  • Safety Precaution: Always disconnect the spark plug wire before any repair, inspection, or maintenance to prevent accidental starting.
