Usage Features
The CX-60ME is designed for portability, featuring a carrying handle and a stand. Its multi-system compatibility (PAL/SECAM) and broad-range input power make it versatile for use in various regions and power environments. The A/V input and output terminals allow for connection to external video sources or for outputting the TV signal to other devices. The detachable AC adaptor enhances its flexibility.
Controls and Adjustments:
- Volume: Adjusts audio output.
- TV/EXT: Switches between TV reception and external video input.
- UHF/VHF: Selects the appropriate frequency band for TV reception.
- AFC (Automatic Frequency Control): Helps stabilize tuning.
- Tuning: Fine-tunes the reception for TV channels.
- Power Switch: Turns the device on/off.
- Picture Controls: Include Sub Colour, Colour, Sub Bright, Bright, Sub Contrast, and Picture for image quality adjustment.
- V. Hold: Vertical hold adjustment.
- Colour System: Selects the color system.
- TV Sound: Adjusts TV audio.
Rechargeable Battery (CB-60E) Usage:
- The CB-60E battery pack provides approximately 100 minutes of TV playing time.
- It takes about 10 hours to fully charge the battery pack.
- It is crucial to recharge the battery as soon as the TV picture begins to shrink to prolong its life.
- Avoid continuous charging for more than 48 hours.
- If the battery pack becomes overcharged at an excessive temperature, the charge indicator lamp will automatically go out, indicating the need to stop charging and allow it to cool down.
- When charging from a car battery, ensure the car's engine is idling to prevent draining the car battery.
Maintenance Features
The service manual provides detailed instructions for maintenance and adjustment, emphasizing safety precautions.
Safety Precautions:
- Only qualified personnel should service the product.
- No alterations should be made to the original design.
- Replacement parts must be identical to those used in the original circuits, especially those identified with a "A" symbol in the parts list and shaded areas on schematics, which have special safety characteristics.
- After re-assembly, an isolation check must be performed on exposed metal parts to ensure electrical safety. Leakage current must not exceed 0.5mA AC (r.m.s.).
- High voltage applied to the picture tube must conform to specifications to prevent X-Ray emission, arcing, and component damage.
- Do not check high voltage by drawing an arc; use a high voltage meter or probe.
Removal for Service:
- Top Cabinet Removal: Pull out tuning and volume knobs, remove screws, and press locked points to lift the top cabinet.
- Bottom Cover Removal: Remove screws, press locked points, and draw the bottom cover in the arrow direction. Care must be taken to avoid UNF resistor contact with the CRT socket P.C. board.
- Dial Belt Removal: Pull out the roller to remove or replace the dial belt.
- Wire Clamping and Tying Band: Ensure wires are clamped and tying bands are not removed or are re-clamped with insulating material if inadvertently removed.
Service Adjustments:
- Purity: Adjust deflection yoke and purity magnets to achieve uniform color across the screen.
- Static Convergence (Center): Adjust convergence magnets and deflection yoke tilt to align red, green, and blue beams at the center.
- Dynamic Convergence (Corner): Adjust deflection yoke tilt and wedges to achieve convergence at the corners.
- AC Adapter Output Voltage: Adjust VR (within power adapter PB Ass'y) to 12.5V.
- B1 Voltage (11.0V): Adjust VR to achieve 11.0V between Q901 collector and earth.
- Sub Tuning Dial: Adjust VRs for VL, VH, and UHF bands to ensure accurate channel reception.
- Horizontal Oscillator: Adjust H. HOLD VR for stable horizontal sync.
- Focus: Adjust FOCUS VR for best overall picture definition.
- Noise (RF A.G.C. Delay): Adjust NOISE VR to eliminate snow or noise in the picture without overloading strong channels.
- Vertical Height: Adjust V. HEIGHT VR for optimum vertical height.
- Sub Bright and Sub Contrast: Adjust VRs for ideal picture quality.
- Sub Colour: Adjust COLOUR VR and SUB COLOUR VR for natural color density for both SECAM and PAL signals.
- Chroma Circuit (PAL): Adjust T302P, DL AMP. VR, DL P. TRANSF (T303), and C312 (4.43 MHz OSC) for proper PAL color synchronization.
- SECAM: Adjust BELL TRANSF. (T301S), IDENT TRANSF (T302S), DISCRI. TRANSF. (T304), and DISCRI. TRANSF. (T305) to eliminate colors from black-and-white sections of color bars.
