Overview

This document is an owner's manual for a Kaysun Mini VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioner, available in triphasic and monophasic models. The manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the device.

The Mini VRF air conditioner system consists of an indoor unit, an outdoor unit, connecting pipes, and a remote controller. The outdoor unit features air outlets and inlets, fix legs, and refrigerant piping connection parts. The system is designed to provide both cooling and heating functionalities.

Function Description

The air conditioner operates by circulating refrigerant between the indoor and outdoor units. In cooling mode, heat is absorbed from the indoor air and released outdoors. In heating mode, the process is reversed, absorbing heat from the outdoor air and releasing it indoors. The system incorporates a "Force Cooling Control" feature, activated by a button on the main board of the outdoor unit. When pressed, this forces the indoor unit to run in cooling mode with the outdoor unit's frequency changing to 44Hz and the indoor fan running at high speed. Pressing the button again exits this mode.

The system includes a display function that circulates various operational parameters, such as operating mode (Standby, Cooling, Heating, Forced Cooling), fan speed grade, total capacity requirements of indoor and outdoor units, piping and environment temperatures (T3, T4, T5), actual voltage and current values, PMV opening, and cooling fin surface temperature. It also displays the last fault or protection code and the quantities of operating and total indoor units.

Usage Features

The air conditioner is designed for safe and effective operation within specific temperature ranges. For cooling, the outdoor temperature range is -15℃ to 43℃, and the room temperature range is 17℃ to 32℃. For heating, the outdoor temperature range is -15℃ to 27℃, and the room temperature should be ≤27℃. Operating outside these conditions may cause the unit to function abnormally.

A "Three-minute protection feature" prevents the air conditioner from restarting immediately after operation, typically for about 3 minutes, to protect the compressor. In the event of a power cut during operation, the unit will stop immediately and then auto-restart once power is restored. If mishandling occurs due to lighting or mobile wireless interference, users are advised to turn off the manual power switch, turn it on again, and then push the ON/OFF button.

During heating operation, warm air is not blown out immediately. There is a delay of 3-5 minutes (depending on indoor and outdoor temperatures) until the indoor heat exchanger becomes hot enough. The outdoor unit may also undergo automatic defrosting during heating operation, lasting about 2-10 minutes, during which both indoor and outdoor fan motors will stop.

The system also includes a "Protection Equipment" that stops the air conditioner if it is directed to run compulsively under certain conditions, such as blocked air inlets/outlets or strong winds during cooling, or excessive dust/rubbish on the indoor unit's dust filter or choked air outlet during heating. When activated, the operation indicator lights remain on, but the unit does not run.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of the air conditioner. Users are advised to ask their dealer for installation, improvement, repair, and maintenance to prevent issues like water leakage, electric shock, and fire. Before cleaning, the unit should be stopped, the breaker turned off, or the supply cord pulled out to avoid electric shock and injury.

The manual emphasizes the importance of ensuring the air conditioner is properly grounded to prevent electric shock. The earth wire should not be connected to gas or water pipes, lightning conductors, or telephone earth wires. Users should avoid removing the fan guard of the outdoor unit to prevent injury.

The outdoor unit's window-shades should be cleaned periodically to prevent jamming, as jammed window-shades can cause components to overheat and shorten their service life. It is also important to pay attention not to block the air inlet and outlet, as this can decrease efficiency or activate the protector, stopping the unit.

The manual also highlights the importance of a 12-hour preheating period after turning on the power switch, especially if the unit is stopped for 24 hours or less, to warm the crankcase heat box and avoid compulsive start of the condenser. If the interior of an indoor unit is extremely contaminated, leading to uneven temperature distribution, cleaning by a qualified service person is recommended.

In case of any malfunction, users are advised to stop operation, shut off the power, and contact their dealer. The manual provides a troubleshooting guide with common symptoms, causes, and solutions, including issues like the unit not starting, poor cooling/heating effect, and remote controller problems. For instance, if the unit doesn't start, common causes include power failure, power switch off, or exhausted remote controller batteries. Solutions include waiting for power to return, switching on the power, or replacing batteries. If the cooling effect is low, causes could be dirty heat exchangers or air filters, blocked inlets/outlets, open doors/windows, or refrigerant leakage, with corresponding solutions like cleaning or checking for leaks.
