  • Weight: Approx. 7.6 kg (16.7lbs)

Usage Features:

  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes critical safety warnings to prevent electric shock, fire, and equipment damage. Users are advised not to place the unit in direct sunlight, near heating appliances, or in areas of excessive dust or high humidity. It also warns against dropping conductive materials into the unit, placing objects on top of the cabinet, or touching the power plug with wet hands. Proper ventilation, with at least 15 cm (6 inches) of space behind the unit, is crucial.
  • Installation: Installation instructions include choosing a vibration-free, well-ventilated location. For Europe and General Markets versions, users must check and set the AC Voltage Selector on the side panel to the correct line voltage before connecting AC power.
  • Connection: The DC Power Supply connects to the radio via Output Terminals on the Rear Panel, with red lead to Plus (+) Terminal and black lead to Minus (-) Terminal. The AC power cable then connects to an AC outlet. It is crucial to turn off power switches of both the radio and the DC Power Supply before connecting or disconnecting the DC Power Cable and to observe polarity.
  • Operation: The unit features a POWER Switch (on/off) and a POWER ON Indicator. After connecting, the radio's POWER switch should be turned on after the DC Power Supply's POWER switch. If the protection circuit operates, both power switches should be turned off and the procedure repeated.
  • Mains Plug (United Kingdom): Specific instructions are provided for UK users regarding mains plug wiring. The wires are color-coded (Blue for Neutral, Brown for Live, Green and Yellow for Earth) and must be connected to the corresponding terminals (N or Black, L or Red, E or Green and Yellow). If a 13-amp plug is used, it must be fitted with a 5-amp fuse.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The unit should be cleaned with a silicone cloth or a clean dry cloth. Volatile solvents like alcohol, paint thinner, gasoline, or benzine should not be used.
  • Fuse Replacement: The DC Power Supply is equipped with specific fuses depending on the version. If a fuse blows, the AC Power Cable must be disconnected, and an authorized Kenwood service facility should be contacted to repair the cause. Users are warned never to use a fuse of a higher rating. Fuse holder location varies by version (rear panel for U.S.A., inside top cover for others).
  • Supply Cord Replacement (Oceania version only): If the supply cord is damaged, it must only be replaced by a repair shop appointed by the manufacturer, as special tools are required.
  • General Service: The manual advises against attempting service or adjustment without factory authorization to avoid voiding the warranty. For repairs, the equipment should be packed in its original box with a full description of the problem.
  • Ordering Spare Parts: When ordering replacement parts, users must specify the Model and Serial Number, Schematic Number, Printed Circuit Board Number, Part Number and Name, and Quantity desired.

The manual also includes circuit diagrams (AVR UNIT and SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM) for technical reference, although these are primarily for authorized service personnel. It emphasizes that circuit designs are subject to change without notice due to technological advancements.
