Overview

This document is an instruction manual for a Portable Air Conditioner.

Function Description

The Portable Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating (for cooling-only models without), dehumidifying, and fan-only operations. It features an AUTO mode that automatically selects the appropriate operation based on the set temperature and room temperature. The unit also includes a TIMER function for setting auto-on and auto-off programs, and a SLEEP/ECO mode for energy-efficient operation. An ION feature (optional) can be activated to remove pollen and impurities from the air.

The unit displays the set temperature in °C or °F, auto-timer settings, and humidity settings (for models with a humidity sensor). In DRY and FAN modes, it shows the room temperature. It also displays error codes and protection codes, such as E1 (Room temperature sensor error), E2 (Evaporator temperature sensor error), E3 (Condenser temperature sensor error), E4 (Display panel communication error), E7 (Zero-crossing malfunction), and P1 (Bottom tray is full).

The air conditioner can be controlled via a control panel on the unit or a remote controller (for remote control models only). The manual specifies that the unit control panel operations are described, but for remote controller operations, users should refer to the separate "Remote Controller Instruction" packed with the unit.

Operating Modes:

  • COOL operation: Sets desired room temperature between 17°C~30°C (62°F~86°F) and allows fan speed selection.
  • HEAT operation (cooling only models without): Sets desired room temperature between 17°C~30°C (62°F~86°F) and allows fan speed selection (though fan speed may not be adjustable in HEAT mode for some models).
  • DRY operation: Operates the fan motor at LOW speed to dehumidify. Temperature and fan speed cannot be adjusted in this mode. Humidity level can be set for units with a humidity sensor.
  • FAN operation: Selects fan speed (LOW, MED (optional), HIGH, AUTO). Temperature cannot be adjusted.
  • AUTO operation: Automatically selects cooling, heating, or fan-only operation based on room temperature and set point. Fan speed cannot be selected in AUTO mode.
  • TIMER operation: Initiates AUTO ON or AUTO OFF programs. Auto time can be changed by 0.5-hour increments up to 10 hours, then 1-hour increments up to 24 hours.
  • SLEEP/ECO operation: Adjusts the set temperature by 1°C/2°F every 30 minutes for 7 hours before returning to the original setting. This mode is unavailable under FAN or DRY mode.
  • SWING feature: Initiates auto swing of the horizontal louver blade. The louver can also be stopped at a desired angle.
  • ION feature (optional): Energizes the ion generator to remove pollen and impurities from the air.

Other Features:

  • FOLLOW ME/TEMP SENSING feature (optional): Activated via remote control, this feature uses the remote as a thermostat for precise temperature control at its location. The remote sends temperature signals to the unit every 3 minutes.
  • AUTO-RESTART: If power is interrupted, the unit restarts with previous function settings when power resumes.
  • WAIT 3 MINUTES BEFORE RESUMING OPERATION: A 3-minute delay before restarting after being turned off to protect the unit.
  • AIR FLOW DIRECTION ADJUSTMENT: The louver opens fully when powered on and can be adjusted automatically via the SWING button. Manual adjustment is not recommended.

Important Technical Specifications

Unit Temperature Range:

  • Cool Mode: 17-35°C (62-95°F)
  • Dry Mode: 13-35°C (55-95°F)
  • Heat (pump heat mode): 5-30°C (41-86°F)
  • Heat (electrical heat mode): ≤ 30°C (86°F)

Installation Requirements:

  • The unit must be installed on an even, sturdy surface at least 30cm (12") from the nearest wall.
  • It requires a grounded plug and accessible Collection Tray Drain.
  • Intakes, Outlets, or Remote Signal Receptor must not be covered.
  • The Window Installation Kit fits windows 67.5-123cm (26.5-48") and can be shortened.
  • The exhaust hose should not be overextended or bent, and there should be no obstacles within 500mm of the air outlet for proper exhaust system function.

Fluorinated Gasses:

  • This is a hermetically sealed unit containing fluorinated gasses. Specific gas type and amount are on the unit label.
  • Installation, service, maintenance, and repair must be performed by a certified technician.
  • Product uninstallation and recycling must be performed by a certified technician.
  • If a leak-detection system is installed, it must be checked for leaks at least every 12 months. Proper record-keeping of checks is recommended.

Usage Features

Control Panel:

  • SWING button: Activates/deactivates auto louver swing.
  • FAN/ION button: Controls fan speed (LOW, MED, HIGH, AUTO). Press for 3 seconds to activate/deactivate ION feature.
  • TIMER button: Sets AUTO ON/OFF programs.
  • SLEEP/ECO/Filter button: Activates SLEEP/ECO mode. Press for 3 seconds to reset the filter reminder after 250 hours of operation.
  • MODE button: Cycles through operating modes (AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN, HEAT).
  • Up (+) and Down (-) buttons: Adjusts temperature settings (1°C/1°F increments), TIMER settings (0-24 hours), or humidity settings (35-85%RH in 5% increments for models with humidity sensor). Press and hold for 3 seconds to convert between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Power button: Turns the unit on/off.

Water Drainage:

  • During dehumidifying modes, the upper drain plug can be removed to install a drain connector (5/8" universal female mender) with a 3/4" hose for continuous drainage.
  • For models without a drain connector, the drain hose is attached directly to the hole.
  • The bottom tray has a water level sensor. If the water level reaches a predetermined level, the unit beeps 8 times, displays "P1", and stops air conditioning/dehumidifying. The fan motor continues to operate. The bottom drain plug must be removed to drain water, then reinstalled firmly.

Maintenance Features

Safety Precautions for Maintenance:

  • Always unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing.
  • Do not use flammable liquids or chemicals for cleaning.
  • Do not wash the unit under running water to avoid electrical danger.
  • If the power supply is damaged during cleaning, the power cord must be replaced by the manufacturer.

Cleaning the Air Filter:

  • The air filter should be cleaned every 2 weeks for optimal performance.
  • To remove the upper filter, simply take it out.
  • To remove the lower filter A, press the grill down slightly and pull the filter out.
  • To remove the lower filter B, simply take it out.

Cleaning the Unit:

  • Clean the unit with a damp, lint-free cloth and mild detergent.
  • Dry the unit with a dry, lint-free cloth.

Storing the Unit When Not in Use:

  • Drain the unit's water collection tray.
  • Run the appliance on FAN mode for 12 hours in a warm room to dry it and prevent mold.
  • Turn off and unplug the appliance.
  • Clean and reinstall the air filter.
  • Remove batteries from the remote control.
  • Store the unit in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunshine or extreme heat to prolong its lifespan.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a "Faults Diagnosis" table to help users identify and resolve common issues before contacting service, such as:

  • Unit not turning on (P1 Error Code, room temperature lower than set temperature).
  • Unit not cooling well (blocked air filter, blocked exhaust hose, low refrigerant, high temperature setting, open windows/doors, large room area, heat sources).
  • Unit being noisy or vibrating (uneven ground, blocked air filter).
  • Unit making a gurgling sound (normal refrigerant flow).
