What to do if my Keystone KSTHW18A is cooling, but the room is too warm and there is no ice forming?
    • T
      torresbryanAug 14, 2025
If your Keystone Air Conditioner is running but the room isn't cooling down and no ice is forming, start by cleaning the air filter, as a dirty filter restricts airflow. Ensure the temperature isn't set too high; lower it. Check the air directional louvers and adjust them for better air distribution. Make sure that drapes, blinds, or furniture aren't blocking the front of the unit. Also, close any open doors, windows, or registers to prevent cold air from escaping. If you've just turned the unit on in a hot room, allow extra time for it to remove stored heat from the walls, ceiling, floor, and furniture.

What to do if my Keystone KSTHW18A Air Conditioner is cooling, but the room is too warm and ice is forming?

      faulknerjosephAug 17, 2025
If your Keystone Air Conditioner is cooling, but the room is too warm and ice is forming on the cooling coil, it might be due to the outdoor temperature being below 64°F (18°C). In this case, set the unit to FAN ONLY mode to defrost the coil. Another possible cause is a dirty air filter; clean it. If the thermostat is set too cold for nighttime cooling, set the unit to FAN ONLY mode to defrost the coil, and then set the temperature to a higher setting.

How to fix if air from my Keystone KSTHW18A does not feel cold enough?
    • D
      Dylan ShepherdAug 21, 2025
If the air from your Keystone Air Conditioner doesn't feel cold enough, it could be because the room temperature is below 62°F (17°C); cooling may not occur until the room warms up. Also, check if the temperature sensor behind the air filter is touching the cold coil and keep it away from the coil. You can also try setting the unit to a lower temperature or wait for 3 minutes after setting it to the COOL mode.

Why my Keystone Air Conditioner does not start?
    • M
      Michael SpencerAug 25, 2025
If your Keystone Air Conditioner isn't starting, there are several potential causes. First, ensure the wall plug is firmly pushed into the outlet. Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker and replace the fuse with a time-delay type or reset the breaker. Also, verify if the Plug Current Device has tripped by pressing the RESET button. Finally, make sure the power is turned ON.

Why does my Keystone Air Conditioner turn on and off rapidly?
    • P
      Pamela CooperAug 27, 2025
Your Keystone Air Conditioner might be turning on and off rapidly due to a dirty air filter restricting airflow. Clean the air filter to resolve this. Alternatively, if the outside temperature is extremely hot, try setting the FAN speed to a higher setting to increase airflow past the cooling coils.

Why is my Keystone KSTHW18A making noise when cooling?
    • W
      wscottAug 31, 2025
The noise you hear when your Keystone Air Conditioner is cooling could be due to air movement sound; if it's too loud, set the fan to a slower setting. Alternatively, it could be window vibration caused by poor installation.

What to do if remote sensing is deactivating prematurely on my Keystone Air Conditioner?
    • J
      Jose JohnsonSep 3, 2025
If the remote sensing on your Keystone Air Conditioner is deactivating prematurely, make sure the remote control is within 20 feet and a 180° radius of the front of the unit. Also, ensure that there are no obstructions blocking the remote control signal.

Do not operate the unit without the air filter.
  • Cabinet Cleaning: Unplug the unit before cleaning. The cabinet and front can be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. Avoid harsh cleaners, wax, or polish. Wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around controls to prevent damage.
  • Winter Storage: If storing the unit for winter, remove it from the window according to installation instructions, cover it with plastic, or return it to its original carton.
