How to fix KFI SE45w-R2 Winches motor when it doesn't run but the contactor clicks?
    • K
      Kelly FosterJul 29, 2025
If the motor of your KFI Winch isn't running, but you hear a clicking sound from the contactor, here's what you can do: * First, check the winch wiring diagram to ensure all wires are correctly connected, paying special attention to the hand remote/mini rocker switch wires (green to green, black to black). * Next, hand tighten the nuts on all cable connections to address any loose battery cable connections. * Allow the motor to drain and dry, then run it in short bursts with a load until completely dry if water has entered the motor. If the issue persists, it may be due to a motor issue or a brake spring installed backward, and you should contact KFI Technical Support.

Why is my KFI SE45w-R2 motor running slowly or without normal power?
    • M
      Molly SharpAug 3, 2025
If your KFI Winch motor runs slowly or lacks normal power, the issue could stem from: * Insufficient current or voltage. Recharge the battery or run the winch with the vehicle motor running to ensure a strong charge. * Loose or corroded battery cable connections. Clean, tighten, or replace the connections. If these steps don't resolve the problem, the brushes may be worn, requiring replacement with End-Cap Kit (#SE-U-CAPKIT). Contact KFI Technical Support.

What to do if KFI SE45w-R2 Winches motor doesn't run and there is no click sound from the contactor?
    • K
      kennethmurrayAug 8, 2025
If your KFI Winch motor isn't running and there's no click sound from the contactor, consider these potential causes: * Incorrect Wiring: Check the Winch Wiring Diagram to ensure all wires are correctly connected. * Switch Ignition Wire: Check the connection to an ignition fed source. It must supply 12V with the key on and the vehicle running. If these steps don't resolve the problem, it may be due to a malfunctioning contactor or switch, and you should contact KFI Technical Support.

Why does my KFI SE45w-R2 spool turn in only one direction when the motor runs?
    • C
      Curtis SmithAug 13, 2025
If your KFI Winch motor runs but the spool only turns in one direction, the following could be the cause: * Incorrect Wiring: Check the wiring diagram and verify that the switch wires (black/green) are properly connected and making good contact. * Defective or stuck Contactor: Tap the contactor to loosen the plungers. * Defective Switch assembly: Replace the switch assembly. If these steps don't resolve the problem, it may be due to a malfunctioning contactor, and you should contact KFI Technical Support.
