between the two washers and tighten so that the
cable will swivel freely, yet is secure (Figure 3-3).
6. Drill another 3/8hole in the box lip so that it is
centered between the door angles. Secure the
safety cable to this using a 3/8 x 1 1/2capscrew,
two flat washers, and a flange nut (Figure 3-3).
Tighten hardware for swivel cable and safety
cable securely.
NOTE: When locating the winch, be sure to
determine which way the auger will lay into the
transport bracket. The winch should be located so it
will be accessible at all times.
7. Locate winch bracket on auger approximately 42
inches from bottom of auger tube as shown.
Secure using two straps and four 5/16 x 1 1/4
capscrews and locknuts and tighten securely.
Be sure that top tabs of straps are to the outside
of hydraulic lines.
8. Attach winch to the mounting bracket using two
3/8 x 1capscrews, small flat washers and
locknuts. Use flat washers on the slotted holes.
Mount winch on an angle using the top slotted
hole of the bracket.
NOTE: Mount winch so that handle is to the outside
when in transport position.
9. Connect 3-link chain to lift ear using a 3/8 x
1 1/2capscrew and locknut. Tighten securely.
Attach the quick link to the end of the chain. The
winch pulley and safety chain will be attached
here.
CAUTION! WHEN MOUNTING AUGER INTO
CRADLE, IT IS AWKWARD AND CAN EASILY BE
DROPPED. BE SURE THAT HOIST IS SECURELY
CONNECTED TO AUGER TO PREVENT
DROPPING.
10. Position auger in front of mounting brackets. Lift
auger using a hoist into the cradle. Secure using
3/4slotted nut and cotter pin. Tighten hardware
(Figure 3-5).
11. Install a quick link to eye end of winch cable and
connect this assembly to the pulley on the swivel
cable. Thread loose end through pulley on auger
and attach to winch spool. as shown on page 20.
CAUTION! WHEN CONNECTING SAFETY
CABLE, BE SURE AUGER IS SUPPORTED.
DISCONNECTING QUICK LINK COULD CAUSE
FALLING OF AUGER RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO
AUGER OR CAUSING BODILY INJURY.
12. Connect safety cable to the auger strap (Figure
3-5).
