Overview

The document describes a range of Adventure Kings Fridge/Freezers, available in 45L, 60L, 75L, and 90L capacities, designed for both household and camping use. These appliances function as portable refrigeration and freezing units, capable of maintaining temperatures between -18°C and +10°C. They are equipped with various features to ensure safe and efficient operation, power management, and user-friendly temperature control.

Function Description:

The Adventure Kings Fridge/Freezers are designed to cool and freeze food and beverages, making them suitable for outdoor adventures, camping, and as supplementary refrigeration at home. They operate on both DC (12V/24V) and AC (100-240V) power, offering versatility in power sources. The units feature a compressor-based cooling system, which allows for precise temperature control and efficient operation. Some models are single-zone, while others are dual-zone, allowing for different temperature settings in separate compartments. The primary function is to preserve perishable items by maintaining a consistently low temperature, preventing spoilage during extended trips or in environments without traditional refrigeration.

Usage Features:

The fridge/freezers are designed with several user-centric features to enhance convenience and control.

  • Powering On: To turn the unit on, users connect it to the desired input voltage (DC or AC) and press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds. The display will then show the current internal fridge temperature.
  • Temperature Adjustment: The temperature controller allows users to set the desired temperature. For single-zone models, the digital readout displays the current cabinet temperature. Users can increase the temperature by pressing the '+' button and decrease it by pressing the '-' button. Once a temperature is selected, the display flashes a few times before reverting to the current temperature. The electronic controller is programmed to maintain an average temperature, with the compressor activating when the internal temperature rises 0.5 to 1.5 degrees above the set point and running until it falls 0.5 to 1.5 degrees below. For dual-zone models, the display shows temperatures for both the "LEFT ZONE TEMP" (larger compartment) and "RIGHT ZONE TEMP" (stepped compartment), allowing independent temperature control for each zone using the '+' and '-' buttons.
  • Celsius/Fahrenheit Function: Users can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays by simultaneously pressing the '+' and '-' buttons on the control panel when the appliance is on.
  • MAX/ECO Function: This feature allows users to optimize compressor speed for either efficiency or rapid cooling. Pressing the mode button activates the "economy" (ECO) operation mode, indicated by an illuminated ECO light, which slows down the compressor to conserve power. Pressing the button again selects the "MAX" operating mode, indicated by an illuminated red MAX light, which increases compressor speed for quicker cool-down times.
  • Battery Monitor/Protection: The appliance includes a multi-level battery monitor to prevent excessive discharge of the vehicle battery when connected to a 12V/24V supply. The fridge automatically switches off if the input voltage drops below a preset value (Low, Med, High settings). It will restart after a 60-second delay once the input voltage is above the set value. Users can adjust this setting by pressing, holding, and releasing the 'SET' button until the desired protection level is reached.
  • Connection Information: The units are equipped with both DC and AC power input panels. The DC connection supports 12V/24V, and the AC connection supports 100-240V. The power inlet sockets are fitted with fuses for protection. The appliance features a priority circuit that automatically switches to AC mains operation if a 240V AC source is connected, even if the DC cable is still attached.
  • USB Port: A USB port is included, likely for charging small electronic devices, adding to the convenience for users in remote locations.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the fridge/freezers.

  • General Safety: The manual emphasizes reading and understanding all safety instructions before use. It warns against exposing the appliance to rain or direct heat sources, using it in uncovered outdoor areas, or placing unsealed liquids or hot products inside. It also advises against using an extension cord and recommends keeping ventilation openings clear.
  • Airflow: Adequate airflow around the compressor is essential for normal operation and heat radiation. Users are advised to leave at least 15cm of space around all sides of the fridge and an additional 100mm where the vents are located to ensure optimal cooling performance and prevent increased power usage.
  • Pre-Chilling: To maximize efficiency, it is strongly recommended to pre-chill the fridge/freezer 24-36 hours (or 36-48 hours for temperatures below -12°C or dual-zone freezer use) before a trip. This allows the unit to cool down its walls, air, and contents, reducing the power consumption during initial operation. Using a 240V AC connection for pre-chilling is ideal to ensure batteries are fully charged.
  • Loading: The optimal fill level for the fridge is between 1/2 and 3/4 full. This balance reduces air loss when the lid is opened and allows for sufficient airflow around products, which is important for consistent temperatures and efficiency. Tightly packed products can take days to cool properly and increase power usage. Empty reusable containers can be used to fill space and aid airflow.
  • Cleaning: While not explicitly detailed in a separate section, the manual states that "Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be performed by children without supervision," implying that regular cleaning is expected.
  • Troubleshooting: A dedicated troubleshooting flow chart guides users through common issues. If the fridge is not cooling, running for short periods, or displaying error codes, the first step is to "Rest the fridge" by disconnecting it from all power sources for 15 minutes to reset the electrical and refrigeration system. The next step involves checking the "Power source issue" by connecting the fridge to two different power sources (e.g., 240V socket and a running vehicle) for at least 30 minutes. If this resolves the issue, the problem lies with the external power source (e.g., wiring, undercharged batteries). Users are also advised to check "Fridge setting issues," such as setting the Voltage cut-off to the lowest value for testing, especially when the unit is empty. If these steps do not resolve the problem, it suggests a manufacturing defect, and users should follow the warranty claim procedure.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a 60-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects under normal usage conditions. The warranty covers defects in design or manufacture that cause the product to fail as described in authorized literature. It does not cover damage from improper use, faulty installation, modification, removal/reinstallation costs, travel expenses, transport damage, indirect losses, or damage from mould, insects, animals, misuse, incorrect operation, adverse weather, accidents, and fair wear and tear. Customers are advised to retain their sales receipt for warranty claims.
