Overview

This document describes the KitchenAid Electric Double Oven Range, a high-quality cooking appliance designed for both conventional and convection cooking.

Function Description:

The KitchenAid Electric Double Oven Range offers versatile cooking capabilities with both a cooktop and two independent ovens. The cooktop features ceramic glass surface elements, including a Triple Zone Element for varying cookware sizes and an Even-Heat™ Ultra Element for rapid boiling and precise low-temperature cooking. The ovens support a range of functions including Bake, Broil, Convect Bake, Convect Roast, Convect Broil, Slow Cook, Keep Warm, and Bread Proof. A unique EasyConvect™ Conversion feature automatically adjusts standard recipe temperatures and/or times for convection cooking, simplifying the process for users. The appliance also includes a Sabbath Mode for extended bake cycles without automatic shut-off or display changes, catering to specific religious observances. For safety, an Anti-Tip Bracket is crucial for proper installation, preventing the range from tipping if excessive force is applied to an open door.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Oven Temperature Range: Adjustable in 5°F (3°C) increments, with a range from -30°F to +30°F (-18°C to +18°C) for temperature offset control.
  • Oven Timer: Can be set for up to 9 hours and 59 minutes.
  • Cook Time: Allows setting the oven to turn on at a specific time, cook for a set duration, and shut off automatically.
  • Slow Cook Temperature Range: Recommended ranges include 250°F to 300°F (120°C to 150°C) for 4-hour cooks, 200°F to 250°F (93°C to 120°C) for 8-hour cooks, and 170°F to 226°F (77°C to 108°C) for 12-hour cooks.
  • Self-Cleaning Cycle: Offers multiple cleaning levels ranging from 2 hours (Quick) to 4 hours 30 minutes (Maxi), including a 30-minute cool-down time.
  • Oven Lights: Standard 40-watt appliance bulbs.
  • Roll-Out Rack Capacity: Designed to hold no more than 25 lbs (11.4 kg).
  • Cooktop Elements: Includes Triple Zone and Even-Heat™ Ultra elements, designed for optimal heat conduction and energy efficiency with flat-bottomed cookware. Cookware should not extend more than 1/2" (1.3 cm) beyond the surface cooking area.
  • Power Connection: Designed for 120V power connection (Demo Mode).

Usage Features:

  • Electronic Oven Controls: A digital display shows the time of day and various function settings. Users can adjust settings like temperature units (Fahrenheit/Celsius), sound volume, end-of-cycle tones, key press tones, reminder tones, and 12/24 hour clock format via the "Options" keypad.
  • Preheating: The oven preheats to 350°F (177°C) in approximately 12-15 minutes with all racks inside. Higher temperatures take longer. The oven's temperature management system ensures consistent cooking results by electronically regulating heat levels during preheat and bake.
  • Oven Racks: Racks should be positioned before turning on the oven, ensuring at least 1/2" (1.3 cm) space between pans and the broil element. The roll-out rack provides easy access but should not be used in rack position 5.
  • Cooktop Operation: Control knobs are set between "H" (High) and "L" (Low). A Cooktop On indicator light glows when any control knob is activated. The ceramic glass surface may glow red when elements are on and cycle off/on to prevent extreme temperatures.
  • Home Canning: Can be performed on the ceramic glass cooktop using flat-bottomed canners centered on the largest cooking area.
  • Keep Warm Feature: Maintains cooked foods at serving temperature for up to 1 hour. Food should be covered for best results.
  • Control Lock: Locks out oven controls to prevent accidental operation, activated by pressing and holding START for 5 seconds.

Maintenance Features:

  • Self-Cleaning Cycle: This high-temperature cycle burns soil to a powdery ash, which can be wiped away with a damp cloth once the oven has cooled. Users must remove all racks, bakeware, and cooking utensils before starting the cycle. The oven doors lock automatically during the cycle and unlock once cooled. Only one oven can be cleaned at a time, and a 12-hour waiting period is required before starting another cycle.
  • General Cleaning:
    • Exterior Porcelain Enamel Surfaces: Clean with glass cleaner, mild liquid cleaner, or nonabrasive scrubbing pads. Acidic spills should be cleaned immediately.
    • Stainless Steel Surfaces: Clean in the direction of the grain using affresh® Stainless Steel Cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
    • Metallic Paint: Avoid abrasive cleaners, bleach, rust removers, ammonia, or lye to prevent staining.
    • Ceramic Glass Cooktop: Clean after each use with affresh® Cooktop Cleaner and a cooktop scraper to prevent scratches, pitting, and abrasions. Sugary spills should be scraped off while the cooktop is still warm.
    • Cooktop Controls: Clean with soap and water; knobs can be pulled straight off for cleaning.
    • Control Panel and Oven Door Exterior: Clean with glass cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge.
    • Oven Racks: Clean with a steel-wool pad. A light coating of vegetable oil can help racks slide more easily.
    • Oven Cavity: Food spills should be cleaned after the oven cools. Do not use commercial oven cleaners.
  • Oven Light Replacement: Standard 40-watt appliance bulbs. Requires unplugging the range, turning the glass bulb cover counterclockwise, removing the old bulb, replacing it, and then turning the cover clockwise.
