  If your KitchenAid Ventilation Hood isn't retracting, it could be due to a few reasons. Ensure the filters are properly installed, as the vent system will not operate without them. Make sure the filters are pushed in completely to activate the microswitch. Also, the Start button needs to be pressed and held for at least 3 seconds to start retracting. Finally, check that the downdraft is correctly secured; it should be level, upright, and securely fastened to the floor and countertop.

  If your KitchenAid Ventilation Hood is making noises, especially grinding noises after a recent installation, use stainless steel cleaner to remove any residue left by the white protective film. Also, ensure the installation of the product is fully into the cutout with no gap in the middle of it, as noise can be caused by moving air.
